For those that use anti-perspirant on their feet to prevent blisters, is there a particular brand that you prefer?

This doesn't exactly answer your question but I thought I'd offer up what I do before I go for a run. I'm currently training for a 1/2 marathon so I'm running/sweating alot. Anyway, I put a thick layer of lotion on my feet and then put on socks that wisk away moisture. I like the ones from Lands End but you can find them at most sports stores. I haven't had any problems with blisters and my feet actually feel nice and soft from the lotion when I'm done.

I run nearly everyday and I use the Thorlos brand, available at any sporting goods store or REI, etc. The wicking is excellent and I've never had blisters with them. Both the walking and the running varieties work beautifully.

When I do feel a blister begin from sandals, etc., I apply a layer of Tincture of Benzoin on the area to seal it and prevent further abrasion of the skin. Used in conjunction with a sock or bandaid, this works well. You can pick it up in the pharmacy section of most drugstores.

I used a product called Body Glide last trip (recommended by Dis'ers) and it worked great! I didn't have one sore or blister. I got it at a sportings goods store and I think it was like $5 or $6. You have to make sure to put it all over and on the sides of your feet and the back of your heel.

I used to have MAJOR blister problems at WDW (flat feet are part of my problem) but now with anti-perspirant and the wicking socks I haven't had a blister in the last few years. I have used whatever anti-perspirant I have around. I usually pick up a solid in the "sample" section at WalMart. The last couple of times it has been "Secret" brand, but I am sure I have used others. Just make sure you coat all of your toes and problem spots with it.

So you use a solid and not a spray? I wonder how the gel ones would work.

Any cheap solid works well. Grab the $1 travel size. I was at DLR for 3 days and ended up with blisters. When at WDW for 7 days, I used the deoderant and it worked, no blisters.

Does it not leave any streaks (like white) on your feet? The solid deodorant, I mean...?
TIA!

Sorry, don't know about the anti-perspirant, but I would suggest taking some moleskin either way in case you start developing a blister. You can cut it to size, and it doesn't slip off like band-aids.

:bitelip: Okay, I hate to sound stupid, but how does antiperspirant or lotion for that matter keep you from getting blisters? Just curious as I've never heard this before. :listen:

I think this has to do with keeping moisture away from your feet.

On our last trip, every time we left for the parks I sprayed my feet with Arrid Extra Dry spray deodorant. I also wore some socks made of CoolMax material-- they help keep the moisture away. Didn't get any blisters on a 9 day trip, so I'm trying it again this year. :) Plus, my feet smelled better this way, which is something my DGF really appreciated. :teeth:

I find that spray Gillette anti perspirant is the best. wouldnt use a solid, that would get messy.
