Anti-Frizz Hair Tips for WDW?

I'm a hairstylist, so I'm going to recommend the more professional products.

Aveda
Their smooth infusion line is FANTASTIC. My hair is thick, but very wavy and frizzy, I've started using the shampoo and conditioner and LOVE it. Also, the style prep smoother and glossing straightener work together fantasically!

Moroccanoil line is excellent. The oil treatment makes your hair sooo smooth and manageable.
Macadamia nut oil also.

I use them both.

For people that DO have curlier hair, the moroccanoil line has some really great curl creams and a mousse.

The enjoy line is excellent as well. They have quite a few products to help keep frizz away. Smooth and Shine is one that comes to mind.
A leave in conditioner is never a bad idea either.
If you have extra frizzy hair, it's definitely best to stay away from anything volumizing.

i wash, condition, dry, and flat-iron my hair daily, and color (no way i am not washing it every day - i just can't do it).
after a gazillion products, the best for no frizz is proclaim glossing spray (my stylist uses it, and i buy it from sally's).
i just rub 2 sprays between my palms and massage into the left side of my hair, then repeat for the right. then the flat iron (though it's not as neccessary after the gloss).
it also is great if i don't dry, and opt for curly. one bottle lasts me about a year, and costs $12ish.
btw, everyone i know who has tried it has had the same excellent results :)

I find if I don't shampoo every single day it helps. (Yes I still take a shower and I "wash" my hair with baking soda and a vinegar rinse. No, it doesn't make my hair oily.) Your mileage may vary, but my hair is so fine that just about any hair product out there just weighs it down and makes it look limp and dirty.

As for hair at Disney, it goes in a pony tail or under a cap. It's so hot I can't tolerate having it down.

I use the Biolage heat-protecting blow-dry serum on damp hair. Turns my slightly wavy, fine, frizzy hair into gorgeous locks of love every time :-) All I have to do after is tame down the blow-dry fizz on the top layers with a quick straighten (high-heat actually works best here, as it straightens in the least amount of time on the hair and therefore does less damage than a lower heat for several seconds) and I'm done! Even in the humidity!

This sounds like something I would be interested in...would it help tame fly-aways also...and work on fine hair. Would love to know the name of the product.

I live in Florida, and I agree with her about products, especially the moroccanoil line. I don't have the same hair type as you, but it's really popular product down here. I use John Frieda and that works for me.

I have thin hair stands, but a lot of it, so I have thick hair and it's not curly...really, I mean I can make it whatever I want, but it's not naturally curly, it's naturally pliable to do whatever.

If you want volume, I suggest BIG SEXY HAIR (walmart). They made humidity products that pump up your hair without the product weighing it down. I use the root mousse and it's won multiple beauty product awards. I use John Frieda hairspray...

OH, and John Frieda HAIR SERUM for keeping your ends managable (I have long hair), I know PureSilk is also popular.

I bounce b/w coconut oil and Organix hair masque for deep conditioning. Coconut oil has a low heat grade (like chocolate) and will melt in the steam of your bath, when it's mushy, you can put it through your hair and it works great on your skin too. Leave overnight, shampoo and condition normal next day. Warning: u don't need to use as much as you think. AND no, it won't clog your pores, dirt and bacteria clog your pores.

Another product Apple Cider Vinager (and it has to be organic) works great at cleaning & softening your hair. Yes, vinegar smells bad, however it soaks in rather quickly and if you use conditioner after, you can't even tell. If you dump in your WET hair (do not do it dry), it acts as a cleanser, but it doesn't strip your hair.

(Forget) Coconut oil comes in solid form, which is why I mentioned melting it, I by it at walmart, cooking aisle, with other oils, cheap stuff is $5. I know nut oil is also popular, but it's more expensive.

Just had a conversation with my hairdresser regarding my curly hair. It seems to change as I get older. She told me that our hair texture changes about every 5 - 10 years. Mine has always been really curly and very thick. It is still curly but has gotten thinner as I've aged. I always use a really good shampoo and conditoner that I get from my hairdresser. I switch brands each time I buy them. But the best thing I came across for the frizzies is a product called Bio Silk Therapy. I put it on either wet along with a product called Totally Twisted or if I dry my hair I put it on after it is dry. It keeps my hair from getting firzzy in the humidity. I recommend it to everyone with curly hair. You can only get it at a hair salon though and I think it's about $12.00 a bottle. Since you only use a small drop it lasts a really long time too. I tried a sample my hairdresser had before I bought it.

I have heard good things about Bio Silk Therapy. I'm heading to Ulta today! Question about the Totally Twisted: Is that the one you buy at the salon? I have ridiculously curly hair and it stays straightened in Florida humidity about 2.5 seconds so I don't bother with the flat iron on vacation. One year I used a product called Sabino and it tamed the frizz, but I haven't been able to find it again.

I'm having my hair Thermally Reconditioned (aka Japanese thermal straightening) before our next trip. This is not the Brazilian blow out or keratin treatment, it uses all FDA approved chemicals, makes your hair pin straight even after air drying, and is fully permanent until your hair grows out and you cut it off. I've talked to people who live in FL with similar hair and they say its amazing and worth every penny. The downside is its expensive ($350 and I have short hair, shorter than the OPs). But its what I really want beyond just Disney - the thought of not having to spend a hour straightening my hair every day (just to poof back up) is very appealing. And last year at Disney I walked around with a giant poof on my head, it was terrible. I'm excited!

In the mean time I've been using Phyto Phytodefrisant and the new jon frieda 3 day straight stuff and it actually seems to work pretty well against the frizz, but we don't have humidity here like in FL so I'm not sure how it would handle in FL. I don't go 3 (or even 2) days without a shower so I can't verify the 3 day claims, but it has kept my hair more tame this summer!

I just bought a small bottle of Argan oil for use at the beach and found that it worked very well...normally my hair really frizzes out. I got it at Sallys for 10.00...you don't need to use much.

I buy something at Walmart called silk drops (or something like that). It's $5 for a small bottle which lasts a long time. My hair is curly and fine but I have a lot of hair so it's sort of thick. The drops work great on my hair. I usually work it through my hair wet but I use it on my dry hair, too. I especially put it on pieces of my hair that look a little dried out or frizzy. DD10 has fine straight hair that seems to tend toward split ends. I use the drops on her hair while it's wet. and blow dry her hair. We have no problems with it weighing her hair down or making it look limp or greasy unless we use too much or put it on her dry hair.

One thing I wanted to say is to make sure you don't get your hair razor cut because I think it makes the ends of your hair look fat or split.

My cousins' hair looks a lot like yours. If I were you, I'd use deep conditioner or oil treatment on only the ends of your hair.

As far as leave in conditioner, you could put a tiny bit of your regular conditioner on your hands and rub them together. Then rub it down the ends of your hair to keep your hair smooth.

There are also anti-frizz mousses out there which work well. I have used an Aussie product like this in the past.

Good luck!

This is totally my kind of thread--you see these women walking around with GREAT hair in the heat and humidity and I end up having hair envy. But, then, I throw on my Minnie Mouse Ears and all's good with the world... ; )

However, will try these ideas--I just got a coupon over email from Ulta!

I have heard wonderful things about the Morrocan Oil line as well. But I have never personally used it. Although I might get some this year.

When I am at Disney, I kind of give up with my hair. Even when I do take the time to do it, it always gets too hot and sticky and I end up pulling it up. Maybe you could look up some cute and quick updos???

Since we are on the topic of hair I will give a couple of tips for those of us without our natural hair colour. When you are going to have your hair exposed to the sun, make sure to use a leave-in conditioner to protect your hair from UV rays.
When you are going to go in the pool, throw some regular conditioner in your hair before going in the chlorine water. And if you don't have any conditioner on you, even getting your hair wet with regular water before you go in, will protect the hair from absorbing less of the chlorine.

I just bought some Moroccan Oil (the smallest size for about $17). I know it's pricey, but I have friends who use it and say it will last FOREVER! I am hoping it will keep the frizz away from my naturally wavy/curly hair. I'll try to remember to let you know if it works, we are going to DIsney Thursday!!:)

Did you get the oil or one of the creams? I use Moroccan Oil to keep my hair shiny and soft, but it does nothing for my frizz. :( I hope you have better luck! It does last forever though. I have heard the Intense Curl Cream is really good to tame frizz, but I haven't tried it yet.

try a line of shampoos called fairy tales..all natural and organic. also if u can go to a sallys or harmons, find aloe vera oil , works like the john freida stuff but better

As for someone with very frizzy and curly hair... There is NO hope. :sad2:

Surrender now to the frizzy hair gods! :worship:

All joking aside, I have never been able to find anything to help tame my mane of hair. I actually straightened my hair and put every anti-frizz product known out there to man and two hours later it was complete spirals and frizz.

So, if you find out anything, send me a message and let me know!

Oh, my Gosh! I read this thread last week and bought the living proof leave in treatment due to a suggestion. It is amazing! Now, I live in s. Alabama at the beach and I have super think, coarse
, very frizzy hair. This product worked better than anything I have tried before-- other than professional straightening. I also switched to sulfate, simethicone free shampoo and conditioner. Living proof is also free of those things! It's really a great product. I like it better than Moroccan oil.

one of the BEST things I've ever used (and still use) is Living Proof No Frizz.

I get the "straight styling cream for medium to thick hair". It works like a charm. :thumbsup2 I got this before our trip last September. ( my hair isn't curly, it's just wavy and frizzy).

I would put this in and after I blow dried, I actually had "normal people hair"!!!! I know, that sounds silly. I used this all week and actually only flat ironed once or twice. The rest of the time, I just blow dried. It looked awesome all week and I was sold. Plus, you only use like a quarter size dab. ( my length is about the same as yours, maybe an 1" or 2" longer) to me, it's the most fantastic miracle stuff !

(you can also buy it at Sephora if you have one near you.....) :thumbsup2

I have not tried this YET but am going to. This line was created by MIT scientists and is recommended by all the big magazines and hair stylists.

From my own experience...I HAD straightish hair with a wave and now it is just curly. The key to preventing frizz is PRODUCT and NOT TOUCHING your hair. So if you are going to straighten it, use a good straightening product. My absolute favorite is Kerastase Oleo Relax serum. The brand itself is fabulous and so are all of their products.

For curly or wavy hair - give into it in Florida! Even if you have the tiniest wave - this is the place to let it go! Use mousse, gel/cream, and my favorite, bumble & bumble surf spray. My curls are fabulous in Florida especially using the right products and a diffuser. I also use flower barrettes in the evening and for the mornings, I just put my hair up. I'm not going to fight it in the morning when I'm so hot and sweaty (I end up showering before dinner).

Living Proof worked pretty good for me, I used the shampoo, conditioner and styling spray.

So the beauty college no longer does the straightner, but they have a product called mane tamer. OMGoodness. How awesome this is. Now granted I havent washed my hair out yet cause I just got it done this AM and I have to wait till Saturday but it feels and looks like what it did when I had my hair professionaly straightened in the salon. Best part cost $25 (well $35 cause they needed to use 2 tubes on my hair). I will update on Saturday but for the price I say this is a magnificient find. Still have to wait 2 weeks to dye my hair too (the grey will be showing big time by then). Im just hoping to have it work this good when I get out the pool.
