Anti-chafing techniques!

I don't use compression shorts...but I use my swim shorts (they are longer in length) or even those legging shorts you see around. that solves all chafing issues under a dress.

I was at Cedar point at Friday in regular shorts and if they dropped of shifted around, I still had chafing and wished I wore my legging shorts underneath.

I'll have to try deodorant :) I also have butt butter...which is an anti-chafing cream I use for my butt during long bike rides and I'm sure that would work as well :)

I also rub lotion on my feet and dh and the kids at the end of every long day on our feet.

Would you use the Body Glide or the Monistat Anti-Chafing under or over sunscreen (or doesn't it matter) and does it "dry" into a white powder or any type of consistency that actually shows? Just curious...

1. I guess I only chafe "where the sun don't shine" so this has never been an issue. ;)

2. As for the Monistat product, it goes on clear and vanishes. It makes your skin feel nice & velvety smooth, though.

.

Just for myself, I can't imagine wearing the compression shorts or bike shorts that others are recommending, underneath your other clothes. Florida is hot enough without two layers of shorts! I say, go lighter-weight and just use Bodyglide or Monistat.

That's why I recommended the Under Armour brand. They are designed to help with cooling. That's why atheletes wear them. I work outside EVERYDAY in the GA heat and I wear UA compression gear (shirts mainly) everyday underneath my clothes. I also play softball tournaments almost every Saturday and you can play up to 6 games in a 15 hour period, same philosophy applies.
Trust me the stuff works.

I would recomend the Under Armour regular Boxerbreif. This is a bit looser and made of the same material. Its going to keep you dry and be a bit more comfortable. they come in 3" 6" and 9" inseam for men at least. I use them for running in the dry 100 Degree Utah heat and sometimes under my board shorts while at a water park to avoid chafing.

I guess they use some kind of new, synthetic, material for them. I tried using compression shorts (and I'm assuming they were cotton) under my regualr shorts many years ago for playing golf as I usually walk the course and occasionally chafed in the hotter/humid days. I found that those shorts made it worse, that it caused a lot more sweating and IIRC, I ended up with a horrible case of jock itch. I'll look into the UA shorts.

I never thought I would miss Walmart so much! This thread has sold me on BodyGlide.
Thanks everyone for the information!:thumbsup2

Wal Mart does not sell Body Glide. You either have to order it online or most Sporting Goods stores sell it. It's used alot by runners.

Wal Mart does sell Monistat Antichafing gel and also a Bandaid brand of antichafing stick though.

Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, but here's another vote for Body Glide. We used it in May and its the first trip where we didn't have any chafing or blisters.

That's your problem right there! Cotton traps moisture. You basically put your buns in a moist oven :rotfl:

Most compression shorts are now made of spandex and designed to wick moisture away from the body

I have not read any of the answers, perhaps this has already been said. Two words; Gold Bond.

It makes the body feel like - A Dew Drop, sliding down a cool red leaf. :lmao:

Another vote for the Under Armour-style compression boxer briefs. They just plain work. Anytime I'm working out, walking extensively, or out in the heat, I'm wearing those. The Target C9 by Champion version are nearly as good and a heck of a lot cheaper.
