Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

OMG I finally got my first one approved after my first one was rejected (didnt know I had to be in the video...my face).

Add me to your friends list under Maliki2

I'm horrible on camera!

I wish I had an answer for you. The out of sync problem continues to plague me. So very frustrating. I wish when our review appears on their site in the pending mode, we could delete it if we see the out of sync problem. It sure would save us and them a lot of time.

I uploaded the wrong video with several of my reviews. I wrote to Expo and asked them if they could deny them so I could redo them. They rejected them that same day and sent me an email saying it was taken care of. You could try emailing them if you want to try to redo them sooner. HTH.

Same here, I noticed my videos were out of sync. I emailed EXPO and explained and within hours they had denied the videos and listed them as "poor quality" as per their email reply to me. Therefore I was able to reupload again the same day.

ok. this soumds and looks interesting.. however i have a face for radio. need to show itto dw and see what she thinks, just cannot see my one eyed scarred up face doing this, one question i havent seen asked or answered anywhere, is therean age limit on this?

dd, 15, would probably love to do this, and is looking to make extra cash towards her first car. can she join?

or could she be my face?

anyone know?

She could be your face. It says you can have children ages 13+ do your reviews under your login.

Okay I am signing up to do this today. Can someone tell me if you can use your video camera? Are all video cameras compatible with a fire wire? I am a bit technically challenged but I refuse to be defeated by this and I will do this!!!! Thanks everyone!

There are lots of different ways to do it. Some folks use their digital camera, some use a video camera and some (like myself) use a webcam. Depending on what you use, there are different software programs that you can use to convert the file to an acceptable format. I use a webcam to record and Windows Movie Maker to make the video to upload. HTH:thumbsup2

Oooohhhh, I will be interested in hearing what they have to say about that. We had 29 rejected due to the sync problem, while they were perfect on our computer. But the good news is that DD got paid for July!

tink
ps.Momof2Disneyboys, we just got back from CSR last week, you will love it.

Still no response to the email on the audio & video sync problem. . . . . . . .
I was thinking it might be my Kodak Easy Share. . . I had previously been "trimming" the beginning so it wouldn't have a blank screen on the beginning when I am hitting the record button. Now I've stopped doing this and they seem to be alright on the expo previews. . . Still waiting on them to be approved. :hourglass

Okay, so I have my 100 uploaded. 9 approved so far, and 34 rejected, the rest are pending. So can I go ahead and do 34 more because I had 34 rejected already??? Or can I not submit more than 100???

=======================================================

Tink - We are so excited to stay at CSR!!!!! It looks so wonderful! What section did you stay in?

Your DD would have to be 18 to have her own account. As a PP said though, she can post on her account until then however. I have made several slide shows rather than full length vids. I have about 15 secs at the beginning and again at the end so I meet the 'face' requirement but then just do the slide show with voice over and put it all together in movie maker. This helps big time in my house since I can take several pix and do the non-voice work while everyone is up and moving about then finish the voice work after almost every one has gone to bed. I have my default set at 5 secs per image but I can adjust it depending on how long I need to show it for what I'm saying about it. I find this gives much clearer pictures as well so you can really see the product in detail. I get nervous on camera but don't have that problem with the voice overs so those vids are IMO easer to do.

HTH!

Ok, so I love all of my fellow Dis'er to death, but I don't have the time to read all 77 pages and 200+ posts on this subject.... I am hoping someone who has been following along will give me the long and short of it all...

I have read the first few pages, a few throughtout the thread and the last page of posts, and I went to expotv to see it for myself. Here are some random thoughts and questions I had:

How long does it take for $$ to go in your account ?

Does your face have to be on TV/camera or an it just be narrated?

What are the chances the add gets on TV ( don't think I want to be on TV )?

What is the time frame they are looking for?

Am I correct that inorder to recieve the $2 or $10 a review has to be made on your video?

Thanks so much! :surfweb:

I am tempted to do a few extras in case there is a problem but also don't want to shoot myself in the foot for September as they won't count towards the September total.

I have started to get rejections for "product not in production"- we just bought these toys last Christmas and now they are hard to find or out of production???:confused3

Anyway, I didn't want to "shoot myself in the foot" either but based on this last weeks performance/rejections, I decided that I have around 9 toy videos that may get rejected-

I went ahead and over loaded- up loaded another 9 sports/outdoors to cover these toys in question-

here's my thoughts :teacher: - if they decide to drop the sports/outdoors next month to $2 ( who knows what they will do next- it seems like a fly by the seat of your pants kind of run site anyway :coffee: ), then I came out ahead, if they decide to reject the toys videos that are pending and they accept the sports/outdoors at $10 then I'm good to go anyway- does that make sense/ I figure it's $10 each for the SP/OU this month for sure and I'm counting on $1000 on Sept.'s paycheck- so I hedged the bet so to speak!:upsidedow

I'm using and (un)easy share too, I'll have to keep an eye one which vids may have synch problems based on any editing I have done. You can only be paid for 100 a month, if you have rejections, re-shoot and resubmit them or find a replacement item to review.

Grendalyn~ The long and short of it: you have to be in the video. You can do a voie over slie show but they have to be able to see you at some point during the vid. They recommend doing it at the beginning at the very least. You have to submit at least 1 min videos, but they can't be longer than 3 mins. Payments re made once a month around the middle of the month. Most people got paid last week for their July reviews. Anything uploaded by the last day of the month will need to be approved before you will get paid for the month. It has been suggested here that you don't wait until the end of the month as it gets really busy and last month they had server issues so some members couldn't upload all their reviews. Doing them earlier also gives you the chance to re-submit or have a replacement to upload if you get any rejections. You will get money credited to your expo acct as soon as teh review is accepted and then you will get paid through paypal as stated above. They only use paypal for payments so make sure you have an active account and your email for expo is also on your pp account. I'm not sure about the criteria for being on TV but I'm sure they look at teh over all review, teh product and poss film quality. The idea of being on TV is a bit scary but you get paid $25 if your review is selected. HTH!

I'm still waiting for my reviews to be accepted. popcorn:: I uploaded 5 more yesterday. My SD card was listed as an office product so if they accept it, I may email them and ask about moving it. I found my printer cartridge under computers, I'm quite happy since I thought they'd be listed as office supplies. :woohoo: Two more things to review! I went out this am and picked up a few pet items, they were only $2 and I got an extra 15% off. I paid $15 for everything I bought and will make at least $32 for the reviews, more if I review my plants. I like getting paid to shop!!:cool1:

I have a Sony Handycam and mine is just the opposite they work ONLY when I trim. DH and I did numerous toys prior to the announcement of the decrease $2. Most of the appropriate size, so we just uploaded them. A couple were too big, so I trimmed them. Well, the 10th rolls around and still no approvals/declines. The messages comes out about the decrease so I frantically began recording some of my craft stuff. Since you could see me turning the camera on and off, I trimmed them all. Lo and behold, all of them were accepted, plus the couple I had trimmed before. The ones I didn't trim, all those toys, were declined. Since then, I trim regardless and they work.

Unfortunatley, the Handycam records in a MPEG2 format, which is not supported by Movie Maker. I have tried to encode them, and it still doesn't work. I have some trip review I would like to make and want to use Movie Maker. I pulled out a webcam from 4 years ago and it is real grainy and it seems to have a lag on it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I guess I could go out and buy a new webcam. Any recomendations?

TIA

does anyone know if you can review the tivo box you get from direct tv? its not the tivo brand per se but what they use? either way not everyone has it and direct tv is national? :confused3

Hi, Thanks for the replies below concerning pending out of sync reviews. I did email expo and requested the out of sync's be rejected. Hope to hear from them soon. (updated to say within 48 hours expo did delete the videos I requested to be deleted). I'll restate here that I am using Kodak (un)easy share.

Like some of you, I have been experimenting with some of my out of sync/rejected video footage in (un)easy share to see if trimming them more or leaving more space in the front is helping. I am glad I still have the original footage to tinker with.

It's hard to figure out ahead of time if they will be in sync on expo since they are perfect on my computer and only appear out of sync once uploaded to expo. On the bright side, here is one piece of good news if it gives anyone hope. We had uploaded a food review that was later rejected due to out of sync. I tinkererd with the original footage and when uploaded to expo, it was IN SYNC! I was thrilled. On the not so bright side, this was only after I re-uploaded 6 previously rejected out of sync reviews that I tinkered with in the same way (trimming at different places), and once again, they were out of sync once uploaded to the pending area of expo. If I can figure out what I did to the food review to make it in sync, I will let you know. :confused3 ;)

I uploaded the wrong video with several of my reviews. I wrote to Expo and asked them if they could deny them so I could redo them. They rejected them that same day and sent me an email saying it was taken care of. You could try emailing them if you want to try to redo them sooner. HTH.

I have a couple of questions about what can be reviewed and what category they'd go in-- I have a feeling that there are others in the DIS that may have the same questions.

I'll post them here but will also post them on ExpoTV and will post the answers (if any).

Can we review phone service, cable service, internet service?
Can we review the dvr that comes (for extra) with the cable service? What needs to be used to prove that we actually have that service?

What category does this fall under?

Cell phone service plan; can that be reviewed?

You can try windows media encoder, the link for it is about 8-10 pages back. We have something called RAD video tools that I use to convert from (un)easy share .mov files to .avi files that movie maker accepts. I have to save to computer but it is an expo accepted file so I haven't had any problems uploading.

Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate it! :goodvibes I will try one of those programs.

tink

Hi, Just thought I'd update. I appreciate the suggestions. I did try the windows media encoder and the RAD video tools, both unsuccessfully, I'm afraid. I would bet that is because I am not video savvy, but when I followed some online directions for RAD, I get the review saved in AVI, which is what we want, but while the sound is fine, the video is in super slow motion or totally still. OR, the video will not be saved in its entirety, but only 4 seconds of it will be saved. I worked at this for a long time to no avail.

So I decided to check out the expo site forum. There, I saw one person ask about how to change mov files to avi files and they got one whopping reply. The reply told them to use a program called Prism. I downloaded this program and once again, no success. Prism is one of the companies that has invested in expo, so it is no surprise that that is the one mentioned on the forum. (updated to add that I was able to use the Prism for converting, but am still not able to fix the out of sync problem when tinkering in movie maker).

The big question is, why, in this day and age, is it so difficult for one program (Kodak easy share) to be compatible with another (Windows Movie Maker) and visa versa. Why can't (un)easy share allow us to save our files in avi format or why can't Windows Movie Maker accept mov files? Not being a techie person, I have no clue, but I still think it's stupid. ;) tink

I was wondering the same thing. I just went in and looked up direct tv and tivo and there are videos for both. Im going to go poke around and look for some more services I have and see if they are on there.

Just venting..

I am SO SICK of emailing these people every other day because they give me the stupidest rejections. I must have sent them about 6 emails now because I get a rejection for a totally absurd reason, and when they re-check it its ALWAYS "so sorry on our part" and they accept it. I'm telling ya, they must have a rejection quota and randomly reject videos because I get the most random reasonings. It was ok for the first few... but now its starting to total up... if I hadn't been complaining about the absurd rejections I would be out at least $60. Arrrrgggggrrrrr

^^ Please give me some examples of your Absurd rejections. I have only done 3 videos (ALL HAVE BEEN PENDING FOR A WEEK AND A HALF NOW). I refuse to upload more until they respond either with a rejection (so i know what I am doing wrong) or an acceptance.

It would greatly help if you could expand on your post with a few examples so I know if they are screwing me over or not.
