Well this was in their announcements forum from yesterday evening about the changes, bottom line...they dont give a rip and they arent going to extend the deadline....
For the month of August, we changed our pricing from a flat fee to a variable payment system. Many of you have asked for more information about why we made these changes.
We recently flew past the 100,000 review mark in July. We actually had assumed we would pass that in December of 2007! So, the community has been growing, and has been very active. Were very grateful for your participation and hope youve been enjoying being a part of this new consumer voice.
Now that our catalog is so large, we found that we needed to move the incoming videos toward the categories that attract more viewers and product researchers. Those are the categories that we currently are promoting at the higher rate per video
electronics, baby & kids, cars, computers, fitness and exercise, pets, sports & outdoors, and travel.
The remaining categories were lowered because we have received an enormous of amount of submissions for those, but are in areas that are in less demand by viewers. Those categories include food & beverage, books, movies. We know that lowering the promotion amount may cause some of you to choose not to create videos in those categories. We understand, and hope to raise the payments again when we need more videos in those areas.
Finally, we recently made a few last minute changes to the categories, moving arts & crafts, kitchen & housewares, and toys & games into the $2 category. We are very sorry that we couldnt give you more notice, but we have been receiving a great number of these videos, much faster than we anticipated, and now need to focus on fewer categories.
I understand that these changes may have inconvenienced some of you who prepare your videos ahead of time. We have tried to stay as consistent as we could, for as long as we could. However, the fast growth of this community has required us to react quickly so that we can continue to provide payment to the community. We will occasionally need to make changes that cant be predicted by us, in order to ensure that we can keep rewarding you for your contributions.
We will be posting more on future incentives, including rewarding for quality, first to review, and other special promotions like our Karma Clickfest sweepstakes. We will try harder to give you as much notice as possible about any changes. We hope that you will continue to work with us to find new ways to ensure that you are rewarded for your tremendous effort.
Many thanks, and please keep the feedback coming. We read all the boards.
