Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

Do you all have someone record your videos? Or can you just place the camera on a shelf (or something) and press record, run out in front and go??? :confused3 It seems that some people I have watched are using the second method, but in the tips from Expo, it says to start out with a full shot of person with product, zoom in close on the product, and then back out to capture a full shot again. Thoughts?

I really want to get started but it is hard getting my husband on board (he is skeptical) and I get camera shy as well, so it might be easier for me to do it alone in front of the camera. :hippie:

I set it no my dresser and record myself. I just sit in front of it, hit the button, show myself with product, then zoom the product in manually (ie I move it closer to the camera) and then back out. Works great and easy to do!

Also those are just suggestions, not a mandatory series of events that must be followed exactly as described

I wonder how they determine which videos they publish. I did 4 videos at the same time, and they only published 2 so far. The ones that they did publish I noticed that I was able to find the corresponding product from their list. The other 2 I had to tell it what the product was. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

This waiting is making me crazy. I've uploaded 59 and still have none published. I know it can sometimes take two weeks. :sad1:

Tonight I'm planning on doing at least 30 more. Wish me luck :goodvibes

Good luck to those having problems. :goodvibes

I uploaded 10 videos the other day. Still pending but I'll be patient ;)

I am going to try to upload another 10 or so tonight.
I am hoping to get to at least 50 by the end of the month. We will see though.

For those that are having trouble -- hang in there-- I had trouble with Movie Marker too but once I figured it out it has been a piece of cake.

For those of you having a hard time importing into Windows Movie Maker, this site may (or may not) help. Its worth a shot!

Thanks so much for the info. :) My interpretation of this is if you are able to see your video in Windows Media Center, you will be able to see it in Windows Movie Maker with the right code (more to it, but I'll stop there). I wasn't able to see my video in the Media Center, so I was out of luck, but perhaps the info mmkk posted will be helpful to someone else. :thumbsup2

Update on my problem. Helpful guy at Best Buy showed me the DV cable (fire wire) cost =$32 that I would need to upload my movies from my circa 2002 camcorder to my computer. Then, since my 2006 computer does not have the thingy on the back of it to insert this DV fire wire into, I'd have to get a converter (he may have used another term for this device, can't remember) that I would need to install on my computer cost=$35. :sad2: I decided against that for now.

The good news is that I was able to find the "trimming" feature on DD's Kodak Easy Share which will allow us to snip off any unwanted footage we tape on her digital camera. So while I am not able to use my camcorder at this time, and maybe never will, I am able to use the video feature on the digital camera and then will be able to edit the review in easy share. It's just that the camcorder could tape many many reviews non-stop and the digital camera will not. Heck, anything is better than nothing. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I wonder if you'd be better off to buy a simple, inexpensive webcam? I'm using a logitech webcam and it couldn't be easier. And I'm technically challenged. :rotfl: I tried to record myself using moviemaker, but the sound quality was bad. What I ended up doing is recording my reviews on my webcam, saving them to my computer, taking them from there to movie maker because expotv won't accept my reviews from my webcam...something to do w/codec's, whatever that is, I save them again after they get to movie maker, and they go right over to expotv. The whole process is quick. I spend a couple of minutes getting the review recorded and saved. Another minute or so to get it to moviemaker and saved again, and another few minutes to upload at expotv. But, all the while I'm waiting for the upload, I'm recording another review. It's a process, but it's a quick one. Just a though.....consider a webcam.

woop woop. just finished my 100th video and uploading my last batch tonight!!! hopefully everything will be approved before the end of the month, that would be a NIIIICE paycheck :)

ps: DBF is a featured creator!!! (batgnome)

I need some information  -

I can log in and out of the forums with no problems- HOWEVER- when I try to view the members page, I want to fill mine out, or the profile page, I get a message saying that I need to be signed in to the site to do this. I try to log in again nothing just that same annoying page, I log out on the forums page- same thing, same message- it's a little box on the left of the page to log in and a bigger orange box on the right saying to register if not already a member-

- I've tried everything that I can think of- I even emailed through the "forgot you password" link and got a reply about my password thinking that I might have mis-typed it yesterday:rolleyes1 - nothing- arrggh! The reply was the same password that I was trying to get the system to accept- that it will accept on the forums but not anywhere else-

also, the forum page said that the last time that I visitied the site was some time in 1969???? WOW- I don't know how to time travel- I don't think! I would have been 5 years old- too young according to the user terms ;) -

Is anyone else having trouble with the members, profile or tranfer a video pages?

Thanks so much for this advice. Any suggestions on where to buy a web cam and what they run? I actually looked for one in Best Buy, but didn't see any (which could be because I didn't look hard enough...lol). One more question: with a web cam, do you need to be sitting in front of your computer to film or is this thing mobile ... you can take it to another room and film?

Congrats to your DB, Mermaid86! Cool! I love your black kitty cat!!!

Daydreamer 64, have you checked the "remember me" box when signing in? That's what I had to do to prevent the continuous log ins. Edited to add: Oops! Now that I went to sign in, I did not see a remember me box. Maybe I am thinking of a different site, sorry.

WELL,

I took time off to give myself a break - read that as cook dinner, change the baby, feed the baby, throw in a load of laundry :laundy: , feed the dog, cats and hamsters - went back to the site and entered my info 1 time- boom- I'm in?? Who knows?:confused3 As long as I can access the site, then I'm good!

No, I didn't see a "remember me" button either-

I've seen them as cheap as around $20. I'm limited to where my webcam's cord can reach. I wonder though if there might be a wireless version that's more portable? I dunno. :confused3 I've had mine for a few years and I honestly cannot remember where it came from but I'm sure best buy would have them. I know I've seen them in stores like Target and Walmart too.

I'm up to 89 uploaded. No approvals yet, but I'm hopeful :goodvibes

Me too!!:thumbsup2 89 uploaded, but I have 1/2 of them approved already. :cool1: Im super excited for next month, this month I was only paid $100 because I only allowed myself to do 20 videos the 1st month, that way I could make sure to get paid before I jumped right in. And this month, well this month, I jumped in BIG TIME!!! WoOoo HOoOo!! :woohoo:

Do you have a "personal" or "premier" paypal account? If you have the premier account are they taking fees out of your money?
I had to set up an account so that I could participate in this and when it asked me which type I wasn't sure, so I just picked the premier. Then, when they sent me the e-mail confirming my account set-up it looked like there is a fee for receiving payments for the premier and not the personal.
Any information anyone can give me is appreciated!!!!;)

Your lucky. :)

I just uploaded my first batch on Sunday night. I've read it can take a while for them to be approved. Here's hoping. :goodvibes

Sorry in advance about the upcoming pity party. :(
About ready to give up. Can't get the videos from my video camera into Movie Maker. Aside from the problems I am having with that (unsuccessful attempts), we also cannot get the other video we taped on DD's digital camera from the computer to Movie Maker. Movie Maker keeps saying that the file is wrong or it is corrupted. I feel like such an idiot. Gazillions of people are uploading video to YouTube, so how hard can it be, yet I just can't get this to work.
<snip>
thanks, tink

At first I had the same issue as my Kodak camera makes all the videos as an mov; then I found on the Expo site that .mov format is fine. I didn't edit the videos as I can't seem to do that in the kodak software but will play around with it later.

I uploaded 5 videos, each one took about 5 minutes to upload, they all hit around 1 minutes 15 seconds in length which is about 30MB's. Having broadband internet helps a lot.

It is weird seeing yourself on video-- next time I am doing them early in the morning, boy I looked exhausted! Plus I will be wearing more makeup! I really hate seeing myself on camera but it's money for my trip in September and then for Christmas so I'll cope.

For those of you who have fast computers at work, why not save the videos to a flash drive and use a lunch hour to upload them?

I just wanted to add a tip that maybe you all know about but anyway....what I do is open up 2 internet explorer windows at the same time. I have AOL but for some reason I cant get it to work through that browser. So I put all the info into one internet explorer window and upload then I go to the other one and do the next one. By the time I get the info into the second window, the first has finished uploading and I can start doing the next one in there. It helps keep it going and makes my uploading time a whole lot shorter.

Okay, I finally got my videos uploaded!! :woohoo: I guess I had my camera on the wrong setting before. So I have 20 videos pending right now. My memory card will only hold 10 videos at a time, so that's all I can do each day because that totally drains my batteries and then they need to recharge. What a pain!! :headache: And I hate seeing myself on those videos too. But you gotta do what you gotta do to get back to Disney, right?!?!

So does expotv send you tax papers at the end of the year for your returns? Or doesn't it need reported? Anyone been doing it long enough to know???
