Pat Spell contacted me last night. Disney bought back my BWV 500 point resale contract. Here are the details in case anyone is tracking this stuff.
It had 500 points for 2002, and all 2003 . The total cost was $35000.00 seller is responsible for dues and closing. It would have been a decent deal,as far as things are now.
I still have a 360 OKW at $70 pp in there. I won't find out about this for a month. With this one I pay closing and 1/2 dues. There are 360 points for 2002,and 360 for 2003.
If this dosen't go through i may opt for the MB ,I'll have to look into it. All the new listings are at $70.00 and up, making resale not very attractive. Especially when you add in the $2 or $3 pp for closing and paying dues for the current year.
I have been involved in a discussion on making another offer if Disney does ROFR. I have decided even if it would work it is not worth the time involved in going through this a month at a time.
Personally I think Disney want's to eleminate the resale market which will hurt all of us. If the price is up to where it doesn't make sense to offer on it who will buy our resales,Disney?
If they see no body is buying resales, they will stop buying them, leaving the price inflated and stagnant on the resale market. I'm very new at this and they are just my observations. I hope Dean will comment on this. I know most of the resale brokers are just as confused as us all. I almost think that if Disney doesn't buy a contract back it is a bad deal. Comments please. Rich
I just got off the phone with Pat Spell. I added $2.00 to my offer and the seller agreed to refuse Disney's ROFR. I am doing this
for two reasonsto get the points and find out what really can happen. Pat Spell (who was on the original DVC team) insists that this is a proper procedure. I am not disputing all the posts about this,I just have to give her the benifit of the doubt. I will keep everyone posted as this unfolds. Rich

. If you get it at $72 it will still be a good deal since you're getting $5,000 worth of banked points plus $500 in closing brings your real cost down to $61 pp. I hope it goes through for you!
