I last updated on Lisa's condition back the end of October.

I called Lisa earlier today, hoping to hear some good news, wish her the blessings of the Christmas Season. Lisa did answer, from the hospital, but as I mentioned in my previous updates, her ability to talk is severely compromised from the effects of the chemo on her vocal cords. Additionally, she is VERY, VERY weak, I could barely understand anything Lisa was replying to me with. I asked her if anyone was in the room with her. She vocalized affirmatively and passed the phone to a good friend, Sue, who was in the room at the moment.

I explained to Sue who I was, how I knew Lisa, she said she knew of me and the DIS, a favorite place for Lisa to spend good time in the past. Aware of the conditions we were under while I was speaking to Sue, I ask her to probably just respond to some of my questions about Lisa's current condition with a 'yes' or 'no' response. Sue indicated that it looks like this it it, nothing more can be done, short of a miracle, Lisa's days are short. Trying to speak to Sue between my tears was tough. I thanked her and asked she pass on my and or prayers and continued good wishes to Lisa. I also told her I would give Lisa's mom, Wanda, a call.

I then called Wanda, who was at her home then. I have talked to Wanda a number of times over the years, though have never met, unlike with Lisa and her family. I told her I had called Lisa, spoke briefly with her and then more with Sue. I asked her....so tough to talk about...just how grave Lisa's condition is at this time. She responded with '...not much longer, maybe a few days, a week or so at most.' :( Wanda was in tears, and I too again. We shared a few thoughts about how much Disney, Disney World, the DIS meant to Lisa, how I had come to know Lisa through our mutual interests, just how nice of a person Lisa is. I shared with Wanda about Sylvia, who also passed from Inflammatory Breast Cancer, such a serious strain of the beast. I mentioned how long Lisa has been fighting, seven years now, whereas Sylvia's fight was only about three. And how both are/were in the prime of their lives, their 30's, both with one child, Sylvia with Nick, Lisa with Emily.

Wanda said when the time comes :(, she or Lynn will be in touch with me so I can pass the sad news on to her friends here. :( It was so tough hearing Wanda say that, so tough to type it now. :(

Please do continue to keep Lisa, Emily, Lynn, her family in your prayers, good wishes, good thoughts. Miracles do happen, but it looks like the end of Lisa's fight is sadly just around the corner.

Thanks for sharing her fight.

Dan

:sad1: :( Lisa and her family are in my prayers. That was a tough post to read. :(

So sad. :guilty:

I had the pleasure of working with Lisa as a teammate on the original--WPASADI. She so wanted to play but had such a hard time. :(.

Prayers to her family and friends at this tough time. :guilty:

:sad1:

Thank you Dan for this post. I have been thinking about Lisa and praying for a miracle. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

A huge hug to you, Dan, and all who know and love Lisa. :grouphug:
I'm relatively new here and never got the chance to "meet" her.

Thanks for letting us know, Dan.

I was thinking of Lisa around Thanksgiving - wondering if it would be her last. Sadly, it appears to be true.

Continued prayers for her family.

Oh my.... :(

I will continue to pray for Lisa and her loved ones. Thank you for relaying this, Dan.

:grouphug: Such sad news. Prayers for her, her family and friends with her at this critical time.

So sorry to hear this. Lisa has really fought hard and it is very sad that it has finally reached this point. My thoughts are with her, her partner, her daughter and her mother.

Its hard to believe she is at the end of her journey. What a fighter she is.

I'll pray for peace for Lisa and her family.

And big :grouphug: for you Dan. You've been such a good friend to Lisa, and to us by keeping us updated on her. I know this is hard on you. :grouphug:

My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa and her family during this difficult time.

Gosh, Dan, I don't know how I missed your update on Lisa in October because I would have sent her a card then. There's probably not enough time now....... :sad1:

I'm so sorry to hear this news. My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa and her family and also with you...I know how hard it must be for you knowing Lisa and her struggles.

This is difficult for me to hear about since it is the same disease that took my beautiful sister 6 years ago. Very tough type of cancer. It often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for too long. The doctor my sister was seeing was a dermatologist when she first noticed signs of it. The precious time wasted getting a correct diagnosis might have made a difference, but we'll never know.

Blessings and prayers for Lisa and Lisa's family. There is always the chance of a miracle. I do believe in miracles. :grouphug:
