Hey Alex.. I am looking for something more challenging for Alex (my Alex... duh..:lmao:) To read. He is busting through those Junie B Jones books in about an hour or so.. I bought him Captain Underpants, and he seems to like that. Do you have any suggestions for what else we might try?

Has he read The Tale of Despereaux?

I watched Lemony Snickett's: A Series of Unfortunate Events with Jim Carrey. Craig Ferguson is in it too.

I have my fingers crossed. Mikalah got her curls from me... but that blond hair. :sad2: and BLUE EYES??? Come ON!! If I have two more that look like that.. Well, I guess we will just have to keep trying. :scared1: :lmao: KIDDING!

Yeah, one of the nurses at the hospital did a double-take with me when she saw ds8. she thought maybe the wrong baby got put in my room. then dh walked in and she went, "ohhhhhh!"

ds4 has more of my coloring, which dh gloats over ("are you sure that was me?"), but i remind him that as soon as ds4 opens that sassy little mouth, everyone knows exactly who his father is. :rotfl2:

Disney Pulls Out of Third "Narnia" Film
29 December 2008 1:51 PM, PST | From www.ohmygore.com/ | See recent OhMyGore news

Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media have confirmed that for budgetary and logistical reasons the Burbank-based studio is not exercising its option to co-produce and co-finance "The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader" with Walden. The Hollywood Reporter says the third installment was in preproduction and set for a spring shoot for a planned May 2010 release. The development puts the participation of the talent attached in doubt, adds the trade. Michael Apted was on board to direct a script by Steven Knight. The key players of the second installment, "Prince Caspian" -- Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley, William Moseley and Anna Popplewell -- were to return for the third film. Walden has a strong relationship with the C.S. Lewis estate and will shop "Treader" in hopes...

yeah, ds8 loved the captain underpants books. also the magic treehouse series, and cam jansen mysteries (kid detectives). now he's into the hardy boys, goosebumps, spiderwick chronicles, to name a few.

:lmao: Alex is the spitting image of his dad... Mikalah is the spitting image hers.. But they must have some of me in there, because I notice similarities between them.

My little sister loved the books I got her for Christmas: The Mysterious Benedict Society and I got her the sequel. She read both during her Christmas break. She is also really into Artemis Fowl books.

We bought him a couple of the MAgic treehouse books, they looked more his speed then Junie B Jones.. He blew through them to fast. Ill have to check out those Cam Jansen books. I have never heard of them.

He got a new reading teacher, and he wants us t push a little more difficult stuff with him at home. He is already in the highest reading class for his grade... and kinda pushing his way past the other kids. :confused3 Im not sure what to do with that.

I hated to read as a kid but now I LOVE it. I just bought a book called The Firemaster's Mistress and I only have 2-3 chapters left. I also bought a book called High Tea, which I have to read next. :)

When I was little I would stay up all night reading. I still do. :lmao: When I get a new book, I cant stop until Im done with it. Thats why I buy short books. :rotfl2:

yeah, ds is the same, so it's hard to know how hard to push. i coaxed him last year to read a harry potter book. he got through it finally, but was very frustrated because there were no pictures and it took weeks to finish the story; so he turned around and read a couple short books in one sitting. i talked to his teacher about that, and she said that was pretty typical when you first move into longer books that you can't finish in one go; the kids will revert to easier books for a bit before tackling another challenging one, and that's fine.

oh, and he loves to read to ds4, so encourage that, too. good for him, and good for mikalah! :thumbsup2

i worry about pushing ds too much. he can read really well, but gets easily frustrated. some books that are at his reading level are about "older" topics that he's really not interested in yet. sometimes i push, and sometimes i don't. :confused3

Exactly! I am having a hard time with it! Is this to hard... not hard enough... I just dont know! Im not in his little brain! :lmao:

They LOVE to read together. He is supposed to read aloud for 20 minutes every day, so he gets Mikalahs books and reads to her. Its lovely!

i remember doing that, too. i try not to do that now, but got sucked into those twilight books and wound up staying awake much later than i intended, then kicked myself when i finished the story faster than i wanted. :rotfl:

my next set of books to read is the sookie stackhouse (southern vampire) series. the tv series true blood is based on these books. i've heard great things about both the books and the tv show. :thumbsup2

Oh yeah. I know with Alex, he likes to read some of Frelans role playing books. He has some on Mechs, big robot things.. They are geared towards teens/adults.. But are about robots, so Alex loves them. Its not a novel or anything.. but its more difficult then the books geared towards his age.

I've been staying up late and reading in bed and I want to finish but I have to sleep. :rotfl: I read the Harry Potter books non-stop.
