:rotfl2: :rotfl2: We all do it! Unfortunately... you cant pick your family. I STILL cant figure out how my husband turned out halfway normal. :confused3
Amen. I always sympathized with Marilyn Munster, she was the only normal person in a nutty family, and they made her feel like she was the nutty one! :lmao:

Wow. Merry freakin' CHristmas to you too!

Is the sister coming just to visit, or is she having problems? I swear I remember a much older cousin coming to stay with us awhile when I was 4 or 5yo (she was a teenager at the time), but my parents don't remember it! How can they not remember it?! They say she never stayed with us, but I remember sitting on the front steps of our house and talking with her. I was so enthralled with her because she was so much older. :goodvibes

I dont know for sure. I know he said something about Cliff, his brother... who is 15 or 16... moving out with his dad, and wont talk to his mom. I have NO idea how long this has been going on... So who knows. Like I said.. Im pretty sure the step mom was drunk. Or just completely off her rocker. :confused3

:lmao: :lmao: Right!! Isnt it always the holidays that brings it out, too?? BOY was I glad I didnt have to get my butt off the couch today.

So did you guys not get together with your mom and her family for Christmas?

Nope. She didnt want to come up here... I guess thanksgiving was enough togetherness for her. ;) :lmao: We invited her for dinner, but she said no. Fine by me!! I didnt even have to clean the house!:woohoo: It was just the four of us, and I couldnt have asked for a better day.

That sounds nice. Friends of ours do the Christmas Eve thing like my family (he's Swedish), but since her family is spread out across the country, the have Christmas Day to themselves. They relax, have a leisurely morning, and go see a movie in the afternoon, just the four of them. It sounds so nice!

Not that I don't like getting together with everyone, but there's just so much rushing about. Guess I ought to be grateful DH's mom and (step)Grandma don't live closer, it could be even more hectic than it is!

Yep... When I was younger, and my dad was in the military, it was always just us. Then we moved back here, and we did CHristmas Eve at my Grandmas house, and Christmas just the three of us. My mom always made a point of it being JUST US. Then Alex came along, and it turned into our little family staying with them on CHristmas.. Then they moved to Reno, and we went there... last year at Disneyland.. We have never been able to just be our own little family.

This year... was LOVELY. Yesterday we baked cookies, and decorated them for Santa... Alex helped wrap some presents... We played games... Just had a REALLY laid back day. Today we got to just watch the kids play, and enjoy their gifts. Im telling ya. This is it for us. No stress, no drama. We had HAM SANDWICHES for dinner!:lmao: It was great!

That's awesome.

I regret that I haven't done much of the relax-and-enjoy this year, it just seemed to fly by. I had the best intentions for holiday crafts with the kids, including baking cookies. It just didn't happen. :(

Next week DH will be back to work, likely FT, and the snow sounds like it will be gone, so maybe we'll do some things then. Obviously not Christmas things... I had this cool activity all lined up to make paper Christmas ornaments, too. :rotfl:

But we can still bake and decorate cookies. :thumbsup2
And I probably have some other craft project we can do, I just need to think a bit.

Oooo, I know! I have some of that black scratch-off paper, you know the stuff that has wild patterned paper underneath the black ink? I could cut some of that up and have them scratch designs in it, and we can paste them onto cards and write thank-yous to the grandparents. This would be a fun way to do that task.

This was the first time having a year like this. Its just worked out. Frelan having the two weeks off, and getting a bunch of stuff done early.. Being GINORMOUSLY pregnant also helped me slow down a bit. :lmao: This weather REALLY threw a wrench into stuff though.

It sure did! THough to be honest, I really did enjoy all the sledding and picture-taking. I guess if I'd really wanted to, we could have skipped all the sledding and done the baking or crafts. That was my relaxing time with the kids this year. They were having a blast, and begging every day to go. Normally I'd send DH out with the kids for something like that while I made dinner or something. So I'm glad I got the chance to do that, it was so much fun to watch them having a great time. :goodvibes

I know it! I had to send Frelan out with the kids by himself a few times.. Because to be perfectly honest... Me... in the snow??? PREGNANT??? not so safe. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: But I LOVED the few times i could go. They were so CUTE!!

I know. I could tell DH was seriously bummed when he couldn't go. But when we switched locations, to sledding down a steep side street, he swung by to pick us up after an hour or so, and wound up staying to watch the kids. He had the perfect vantage point at the top of the street! :rotfl:

The next day he came at the outset, then asked me if I thought my friend (who was also on crutches so was sending her kids with her DH to sled with us) would like to sit in the car with him. I said to call and ask her! He did, she said yes please, and so they were both parked in the warm truck watching the fun and harrassing each other hilariously. :lmao:

Merry Christmas Hyenas, Grumpy and Albort!

Tomorrow I'm off to celebrate with ALL of my family members for the holidays. All my siblings and their children, my mom and dad. It was my Dad's "bucket list" wish.:sad2: It has been years since we have all been able to be together. There will be about 50 of us.

Wow, DH must have turned the heat down, because I am freezing my patootie! :lmao:

I should get to bed anyway. I have been staying up late and not sleeping terribly well the past few days, so I'm hoping for a "good winter's sleep".

Good night! :cloud9:
