I just hope that no one was turned off of going to Universal because of someone else's "definitive comparison". It was simply an opinion piece and any of us could have produced the same thing about our Disney experiences.
How could you allow those thugs (isn't that a chain around her neck) near your children?
(your kids are absolutely adorable!)
I was raised by a disney cultest- my mom- and believe me they do exist!! I did not go to Universal till I was in my 40s even though I lived a 2 hour drive away. My mother had me convienced that Universal was one step below 6 flags-even though she had never stepped foot in the place. She said it was filthy dirty and full of yankees and white trash(not sure which is worse
) Disney fanatics truely are brainwashed and they scare me.
Finally to the express pass. I can see how ppl consider this unfair and when we were there in our awesome front of line with our hotel room keys the little 8 year old accross the way made a comment about the "rich ppl" that we just kinda LoLed at. I like how Disney does it to an extent its what imo they "have" to do the que system works very well and the ques are short and its nice they offer it to everyone. However I was a runner to get passes and I spent half my vacation away from my family going to get express passes running all over the park which I was so completely unhappy about. I honestly dont believe Disney can change their passes they have too many hotel rooms to make that a perk and it wouldnt be as express.

jonny, i don't know if i understand what you said about the child swap compared to universal.
at universal, the entire family can participate in the child swap.
one stays with the little and the rest can go on the ride.
the family returns from the ride and the person that had to sit with the little can then go on the ride. just a note that the others can also do a repeat ride, there is no limit on the number of people to do that. you just have to have one person stay with the little in the child swap room.
if you are a family of 6, 5 do the ride and 1 stays with the little.
they return and the person that stayed with the child can now do the ride.
5 of that party can do a repeat with you.
about the food, i always say if i don't have to cook it or clean up after it, i will eat anything..........good or bad, it tastes pretty good to me...![]()
But Disney also charges a whole lot more for that "free" fast pass.
A 7 day Disney parkhopper is $278.00 per person while a 7 day parkhopper at Universal is $99.00. Even taking into account that Disney has 2x the amount of parks to visit, the 7 day parkhopper is more than 2x the Universal 7 day ticket. That leaves you $179.00 per person to add as many Express passes as you want to even come close to what you pay at Disney just to get into the parks.
So, I think Universal actually has a much better system. You can get into Universal for a ridiculously low price for a week. You can then guage if you need an express pass or not. If you don't, you are money ahead. If the crowds are bad enough that you want one, then you still haven't shelled out as much as you would have just to get into Disney.
And the purchased Express passes are so much better because it doesn't cause the runner, as you mentioned, to be running ragged all over the parks. You have all your Express passes and you decide when you want to ride a ride, not a machine.
That was my little rant about Disney actually. I know thats how it works with Universal just have never had to use it. But when we were at Disney I had to hear my sister say how unfair it is the odd man out has to wait an hour for their rest of the family. I believe Universal has a much better system as far as that goes.
