Another Universal is for trash and thugs thread

Well I planned on reading the rest of that thread and commenting tonight, but I'm exhusted. Maybe I'll get to it tomorrow

I have to say this is probably one of the worst post against Universal I have seen. I refuse to let the blatant lies go unanswered. Just can't do it.

Just noticed something about this man's post. In point D., where he is talking about theming, creativity, atmosphere, etc. he says:
"There is little if any of this at Universal. The quality is just not there. Queing areas are usually very boring..."
But scroll down toward the bottom, and you will see one of his paragraphs begin with:
"What I will give Universal credit for is creativity."

I've got to say I am a big disney fan and remember the first time we went to Universal.

We had gone to a few Disney parks and so when entering the car park for Universal i was a little bit deflated (just looked like any other concrete car park to me :/ )........ but when i got in there I was blown away.

We loved every minute of it and in fact IOA was probably the best park that we went to all holiday.

As for thugs etc, well if the people i saw there are thugs then i wish our thugs were like that in sunny old England :)

We did both parks this year (see my trip report)

We have no bias, we enjoyed the vacation in both spots. But the amount of venom being spewed about universal and the thug/Jerry Springer hits me hard. I AM taking it personally because I enjoy the Universal Parks to the Disney ones and feel as though I am being classified in those groups mentioned.

I feel no special "magic" at Disney. It's cool, we had a good time, but we much prefer staying onsite at universal and getting our FOTL.

Last year was just uni/IOA - as for having no theming :confused3 just look at all of my pictures.

I don't get the "FOTL pass is undemocratic"??
Finally, I saw someone make the point about EMHs. Kinda the same thing. It's a perk. At Disney, you only get that a few times a week. At Universal, you get it every day at almost every ride.

1. Yes, blacken a few teeth.
2. Gain weight.
3. Tight tank top with no bra.
4. Don't shower for two days.
5. Low-cut Daisy Dukes and a thong.
6. Talk very loudly and slowly about everything you see, and your gun collection back home.
7. Wear a big button that says, "I'd rather be at Disney."

My head is really starting to swell here--my DD, soon to be 15, told me her boyfriend thinks I'm hot --which she just thinks is plain creepy-- and now you put my exact picture for all to see--my cover is blown!
 down boy!;)
I've been hanging out here and at the Disney theme park boards before our October trip. I read the thread that everyone here is talking about and am somewhat bemused at how angry people get with each other. I really don't understand how someone can "hate" a theme park. I can see finding it not to my taste, or not what I expected, or not interesting to me, but hate is such a strong word and makes me wonder if the main reason the original poster posted the thread is because they need other people to agree with them to feel better about their experiences at Universal.

As I told my spouse tonight...I don't care for certain styles of cars, but that doesn't mean that my taste is superior to someone who does like those style of cars. It just means that my taste is different than theirs :) and I don't need anyone to agree with me and tell me that I am right in order to have a valid opinion. :)

And I'm sure that I will enjoy some things at Universal and not enjoy other things. :) But then, the same is true for me at WDW.

well put:thumbsup2

at the risk of getting slammed, im wondering how many of the disney or die/spit in Universal's eye gang really just has park envy?

IMO, they doth protest too much:idea: secretly they lust for Universal & would prefer doing a split stay. Unfortunately, the economics of the Disney tix pricing structure deliberately puts it out of reach for many...akin to car analogy above with a if i can't have one, i'll call it stupid rational.

popcorn:: I keep waiting to read somebody feeling bad for poor old Harry Potter, being doomed to wander in such a questionable neighborhood...least he has his magic wand to protect him:laughing:

I do remember reading somewhere on the thread that they thought Harry Potter would be lame because it wasn't being done by Disney.

Now that's park envy!

If it wasn't for Pixar, Disney would be pretty lame!

We just came back from a Japanese restaurant in Myrtle Beach, SC. We went to Benihana's, Japanese restaurant in Pittsburgh for DS 13th.

We compared the two places. We said we liked this at that place, but we liked this better at the other. We liked them both equally--no hating just comparing.

We will continue patronizing both--two different experiences that we can enjoy. We will do the same for Disney and Universal.:grouphug: :grouphug:

Here's the mindset:

If Universal comes out with something Disney doesn't have, Disneyphiles say: it's a fad and won't last and will be cheaply done. (How many times have they decided Harry Potter won't be worth anything since Disney isn't doing it?)

If Universal comes out with something...no matter how remotely related to something Disney has (roller coaster), Univeral is ripping off whatever Disney ride it's most like...i.e. RnR vs HRRR debate on the Rumors board.

If Disney comes out with anything, it's the most innovative attraction in the world and no one will ever have anything like it.

Since Disney is geared to youngsters--they can really never catch up to Universal in the way of cool rides.

If Disney comes out with anything, it's the most innovative attraction in the world and no one will ever have anything like it.

The cool rides go too fast for those under 52" and they are too afraid of lawsuits to change anything.

Is it my wild imagination or when I 1st visited Space Mtn back in the 70's wasn't it way faster--didn't they slow it down for fear of lawsuits? Or am I just remembering "Back in the day syndrome"?

I don't know if it were faster back in the day but I do know that I enjoyed it on my first trip but on my next trip several years I later I found it to be VERY sloooooooooow. But my daughter loved it when she was 6.

I guess you can just put the blame on me and my fiance for having a couple pairs of pants with chains on them that we wear from time to time.

Oh yeah... did I mention that this "thug" used to work for the Police Department and is now a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and his "thug" fiance is an LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) and has been for 6 years???

I know what you mean! Here is a photo of my friends and I. Our professions include VP of a Bank, 2 Geologists, a nanny, Corporate travel agent and an IT guy.

You know...those Universal characters are just cruel. Look at them pulling on these children's hair. AWFUL!

O....M....G

I just realized what that was. At first glance, I thought it was just a sports bra.

Then I saw the Hanes on the waistband.
