Another Universal is for trash and thugs thread

Personally, I love the parting thought by the OP:

If you love USO so much and are concerned about its image, instead of attacking me let me offer another suggestion:

Talk with Universal and figure out how they lost the future business of a family who went predisposed to love the place....

WTH kind of sense does that make? Us Uni people are supposed to talk to guest services and figure out why his family won't go back? For real? That was his suggestion? Good riddance AFAIC.

Not to mention he didn't really answer goofy!'s just posted more vague replies.

I just hope that no one was turned off of going to Universal because of someone else's "definitive comparison". It was simply an opinion piece and any of us could have produced the same thing about our Disney experiences.

that is why it was so hard not to keep replying

I wanted to not post so his thread would go to the bottom and be forgotten

But, he really wasn't being logical--and that is what bothers me the most in the world:)

I could care less what the guys opinion was. I was not trying to change it. I did however want to correct his lies for people considering a visit to Universal.

On the other hand...if we would just agree with those posts it would keep crowds down for us! :teeth:

I have my own opinion and it certainly isn't the same as the OP on that thread. I will however be wearing my wife beater shirt to US in November! :lmao:

Bummer I missed this while I was on vacation before the thread closed. Even though I enjoy Universal more then Disney at this point in time I do agree with some of his points.

One being the food I do think Disney has more options for sides and overall was better food. I rly did not like only having french fries as side option at Universal. However obviously this changes on where you eat and if you go sit down or the counter meals.

The theme-ing at IOA is trully awesome I have no idea how he saw any differently. The Suess and comic land are probably 2 greatest theme type things I have seen anywhere.

About the young kids and the rides he is right imo atleast with the kids I travel with. Most at Universal is loud and dark which some kids do not like. IOA has Seuss land which is great for kids though. Also depends on the kids some I would imagine like loud and dark and enjoy that very much.

About the "thug" crowd. I am not so sure about "thug" but I do see more random little teenage kids making out in lines and hands down girls shirts in lines etc there however I have spent more time at Universal recently then Disney and I am sure it goes on there also.

Finally to the express pass. I can see how ppl consider this unfair and when we were there in our awesome front of line with our hotel room keys the little 8 year old accross the way made a comment about the "rich ppl" that we just kinda LoLed at. I like how Disney does it to an extent its what imo they "have" to do the que system works very well and the ques are short and its nice they offer it to everyone. However I was a runner to get passes and I spent half my vacation away from my family going to get express passes running all over the park which I was so completely unhappy about. I honestly dont believe Disney can change their passes they have too many hotel rooms to make that a perk and it wouldnt be as express.

Figure I would add my own little comparison as far as child swap goes. It is kinda nice how they allow kids to ride twice at Disney with the 3 ppl can get in. Problem is when you have one person having to sit out for an hour by themself to watch the kids while the rest of the family sits in line for a ride. My sister kept commenting on how unfair it is and I would have to agree for the most part. For a "family" park we sure spent a lot of time apart between child swap and running for fastpasses.

I did not read all the posts actually but I saw his original and it honestly did not seem like much of a bash towards Universal directly but I will read more.

jonny, i don't know if i understand what you said about the child swap compared to universal.

at universal, the entire family can participate in the child swap.
one stays with the little and the rest can go on the ride.
the family returns from the ride and the person that had to sit with the little can then go on the ride. just a note that the others can also do a repeat ride, there is no limit on the number of people to do that. you just have to have one person stay with the little in the child swap room.

if you are a family of 6, 5 do the ride and 1 stays with the little.
they return and the person that stayed with the child can now do the ride.
5 of that party can do a repeat with you.

about the food, i always say if i don't have to cook it or clean up after it, i will eat anything..........good or bad, it tastes pretty good to me...

I was raised by a disney cultest- my mom- and believe me they do exist!! I did not go to Universal till I was in my 40s even though I lived a 2 hour drive away. My mother had me convienced that Universal was one step below 6 flags-even though she had never stepped foot in the place. She said it was filthy dirty and full of yankees and white trash:scared1: (not sure which is worse:rotfl2: ) Disney fanatics truely are brainwashed and they scare me.

Well, I'm from Jersey and LOVE Universal so I guess I am a White Trash Yankee :lmao:

I thought it was all one big park growing up, once I hit my teens and started going to HHNs is when I realized the difference.

But Disney also charges a whole lot more for that "free" fast pass.

A 7 day Disney parkhopper is $278.00 per person while a 7 day parkhopper at Universal is $99.00. Even taking into account that Disney has 2x the amount of parks to visit, the 7 day parkhopper is more than 2x the Universal 7 day ticket. That leaves you $179.00 per person to add as many Express passes as you want to even come close to what you pay at Disney just to get into the parks.

So, I think Universal actually has a much better system. You can get into Universal for a ridiculously low price for a week. You can then guage if you need an express pass or not. If you don't, you are money ahead. If the crowds are bad enough that you want one, then you still haven't shelled out as much as you would have just to get into Disney.

And the purchased Express passes are so much better because it doesn't cause the runner, as you mentioned, to be running ragged all over the parks. You have all your Express passes and you decide when you want to ride a ride, not a machine.

my mom is a southerner and i'm the yankee.

no wonder she and i have differences..........

That was my little rant about Disney actually. I know thats how it works with Universal just have never had to use it. But when we were at Disney I had to hear my sister say how unfair it is the odd man out has to wait an hour for their rest of the family. I believe Universal has a much better system as far as that goes.

Yes I definately agree with you that Universal has a better system. My original point is I can see how some consider it unfair system not that I feel that way. But I also see how Disney cant rly adapt and change to that type of system as they have far too many hotel rooms and I would think far too many ppl would be willing to pay more for that kind of access there. I love how Universal does that and hope it continues to work as I plan on going there quite a bit. I will probably even renew my AP next year which Disneys will die out as they do not offer anything special but I get nothing but specials from Universal. I have saved roughly $100 so far in parking at Disney but I have had half off hotel room twice now with Universal. Half off park tickets for family for roughly 8 tickets. Not to mention the Simpsons preview which I got to enjoy also. Next year I may get the better pass though with the express for after 5pm I just not so sure living 3 hours away would be worth it as most times I have been going I have stayed onsite lately.

sorry, i didn't realize you were in tune with the program.

if i don't see a name in threads very often, i try to explain with more detail.
for the homies screen names i see a lot, they get my sarcastic wit...
