Have I got this straight?
I'll be tipping the maids, waitresses, town car driver and any porters but not I-ride trolley and lynx bus drivers.
Now what about the (complimentary) shuttle bus driver? Also I've read somewhere that bar staff should be tipped. We have a complimentary bar in the early evening, what should I be tipping there?
What other tips have I forgotten? I'm trying to work out a budget!
I always find tipping really awkward/embarassing - any useful hints appreciated.

We've never used a shuttle bus, but my inclination would be to say, yes. Tipping is the only source of income for many service employees in the US. The amount is trickier if the service is complimentary. If from the airport to your hotel, I'm guessing $5 would be about right.

Bartenders should be tipped 15-20%. As your drinks are complimentary you will need to work out a rough value of what you have drunk. No need to tip each time you have a drink - just do it before you leave in the same way you would if you were running a tab.

There's absolutely no need to feel embarrassed. Tipping is normal in the US. In restaurants, if you are paying in cash you just leave the entire amount, including the tip, on the table. If you are paying by credit card, you need to offer your card which they will take away to swipe. They will then bring the slip for your signature and leave. There is a space for you to add a tip (or you can simply sign the slip for the amount of the meal and leave a cash tip). Again, you just leave the table and they will collect it after you've gone.

you also tip taxi drivers.....and if you have a rental car and use valet parking, you should tip the valet...
and if you order room service, even though they usually add a service charge to the bill, you should still tip the person who brings the food to your room.....

If your shuttle busses are anything like the ones we had there will be prenty of 'reminders' about tipping the driver :)
Usually large signs saying things like "Tipping is a great way to say thanks".

Thanks for the help. At this rate I might need to add 15% to my budget just to cover tips!! -I can always spend it somehow;)

Tim - can you give me an idea of how much to tip the shuttle bus driver, and did you tip each way or just on the return journey?
I'm hoping to use the shuttles a lot if they're not too drastic - we're staying on ID and will be doing WDW and U/IOA.

Took my grandaughters last November and they were really amazed by the tipping culture that they even tried to tip the shopkeepers! The decided Orlando should be re-named Tippy Tippy land. Now when we are going away the say Where you going nannie Tippy Tippy land???

Hi ya

Most people and myself included seem to tip the shuttle drivers, Some people give as much as $10 dollars.
I personally only give $3.00 when arriving in orlando (as i only come with a small suitcase) and $5.00 when leaving as I usually have an extra bag to take home.

Some shuttle drivers deserve it more than others, the more helpful in collecting and removing bags, advice about the area sites the more money I will give. The amount you tip is always your decision.
