another ticket question for the experts!

A friend of mine is leaving for the World this Saturday. A friend of hers has offered to give her family 4 tickets each having 4 unused non-expiry days FOR FREE! Sounds great, but can you do that? I'm thinking it might depend on when the tix were purchased and used? Will it work if the tix were purchased pre-Magic Your Way? When did they start doing the finger scan thing? Help! I'm trying to save my friend about $800!

The biometric scans began with the advent of MYW Tickets in January 2005. If they are MYW tickets, then they most likely have biometric scans attached to them.

If they are "unused", that means nobody has put their fingers in the scanners with them, so anyone can use them. Your friend might want to go to Guest Relations to check what exactly is on them before trying to use them and be prepared to buy tickets if the ones she was given are not what her friend told her.

No, they were used. There are four days left on each of them. I'm thinking they were purchased before MYW began. If that's the case, they won't have the biometric thing linking them to the original user, right?

If they have gone lately they may have finger scans attached to them. All the tickets require a finger scan now.

Even if the finger scan is not attached to them she wouldn't be able to use them unless they were purchased elsewhere other than at Disney World. If they were purchased at Disney World then the original holders names would be on the tickets. If they were purchased at a Disney Store then she shouldn't have any problems, unless of course the finger scan has been attached to them. I had given my brother some old tickets of mine that only had the pluses left on the park hoppers for him and his wife to use and they weren't allowed to use them because their name didn't match the names on the tickets.
