another ticket price increase? really?

I bet Uni will follow with a ticket price hike soon, before Diagon Alley opens this summer.

On some other sites, it was reported that the UNI, 1 day, 2 park ticket will go up 16% when the new HP opens. No proof, but that is supposedly increasing the ticket to $128.00. That doesn't include Express pass.

The discounts (room discounts and free dining) are to fill up the 25,000 hotel rooms, which run at about 80% occupancy at best over the course of the year. They have lots of space in their hotels...not so much space in the parks :)

Hence the higher ticket prices this year. :confused3 I still think people can get good deals, even with the higher ticket prices.

My point is I don't think Uni products are worth it to me and my family and apparently many more.If that is what your looking for, great..go ...enjoy UNI.
If WDW is not worth the money to you and the family, don't go!

The last few years UNI has added to their parks, but for many years they didn't and still raised prices.

I believe the WDW and classic Disney is worth the price raises to cover inflation and all the extras of just being on property, even just to visit. The many choices in the 16 hotels, unique theming, golf courses, 4 parks, 2 water parks, campground, boats, monorails, balloon rides, horse back and many, many other smaller attractions. Many of these attractions are free to explore and try, and are covered partially by parks tickets.

As to the hotels, yes, they are cheaper but they are going higher and limited choices. Uni does have walk to the parks, if they build more hotels, that will not always be the case.

As I said before the bottom line is all and every company will charge what the people will pay, and attendance at WDW in general, not just the parks, prove people want to be at WDW.

AS Uni grows their over head will as well, and their prices.

To each is own. For me, I was always a Disney girl, until Universal got the rights to Potter. As soon as that happened, Universal got me. That does not however mean that I know longer love Disney, I do, it can't compare to Potter no, but nothing can for me. But I do still love Disney and the memories created there. However, once Potter got me off Disney property my eyes were opened to a different product and I saw what less money could get me entertainment wise and that changed my perspective a lot.

Before Potter got me offsite, I would have said, "oh Disney had a price hike, Ok" and then paid it and not thought twice about it. But now I see it from the eyes of someone who has seen that new things should come for more money and it changed the scope for me.

Fair enough!...:thumbsup2......and I agree I thought HP was wonderfully done.

But beyond that I think of UNI as mostly a thrill park.(only My opinion).

As I did say, Iger messed up by holding back on new attractions at WDW, apparently more interested in parks out of the country.

I grew up with Uncle Walt on Sunday nights and never even got to DL until I was 24...............walking in DL was like walking into a fog and being a kid again.

My kids grew up in WDW and we as a family, every time we go, its like new again. My wife always says she would go to WDW with 2 little kids and one big one. In fact my retirement dream to train to be a Walt Disney World Railroad engineer.

One thing I think is somewhat over looked and I fully believe WDW and UNI are working together on pricing. Both together are better off bring more tourists to Orlando together, then just 1.

I agree with you about UNI. Everyone in my family, except for me, gets severe motion sickness. To put this into context, my mom tossed her cookies of BTTF when that was at Universal. The majority of my friends also have the motion sickness bug, so if I want to go to Universal, I have to go alone. There's just not enough for my motion sickness prone loved ones to do.

I think UNI is very well done though, and yes, it's a good value as long as you don't add on too much. Universal has its own way to nickle and diming you without the savvy consumer noticing.

I think all the theme parks - Sea World included - are working together. They battle each other, but they also need each other to survive.

I wonder if this'll push people to stay offsite and save money to offset the price of the tickets (if Disney doesn't offer as many room discounts and free dining).

There's a couple huge resorts being built right now. There's the one on Black Lake that's basically on the property line. These resorts - for the most part - are really nice and much cheaper. So yes, if ppl have a car, I think more will stay off property.

And if you do apples to apples - a Disney 1 day with a park hopper is $162 plus tax.

And quite a few other items have risen that much in 10 years- food products, fuel, etc.

Yes...but food and some other consumer goods went up so much because fuel went up. Fuel for production and for transport of both ingredients and final product is a significant portion of food cost.

Fuel is not nearly as significant a portion of Walt Disney World's operational expenses.

Really?
Come on peeps, prices go up on everything, Disney is a business not a non profit organization.
Bread goes up, milk goes up, gas goes up, clothing goes up. Most of those are necessities. Vacations (Disney) are for pleasure. So you save up & pay the price or choose a lesser venue.

Well said. I agree totally.:thumbsup2

Outrageous! twice in one year,no new teen/adult rides (no I do not count FL as a ride) I am underwhelmed with the FL expansion, hate the FP+ tier, my "Disney adult" kids...I could go on an on. I am going this year because we are being treated by a family member for our stay. However, will not be back for quite awhile. Our next FL trip will be a cruise, sea world, discovery cove and Universal trip. I have gone to Disney the last 6 years and can say I am officially turned completely off by Disney's money grubbing. Outrageously priced food, crappy quality souvies and overpriced hotels. Dear Disney, the Next Gen for my family is other vacation destinations and we are taking our dollars with us. Maybe in 10 years you will have some real thrill rides, have updated parks and fixed the fast pass + disaster. Then we may be back...or not, we may have found another destination spot we love...as of now we are seriously not that into you anymore.

It is actually $142.71 ($134+ tax). The hopper option for a 1 day ticket is not the same as it is for multiday tickets.

I don't know if that $128.00 figure included tax.

Either way it shows UNI right up there, give or take a few dollars.

Not to mention that is a 4 park option, not 2.

I would not expect to see over the top major thrill rides at WDW. Its not what Disney in about and thankfully so.

I sincerely hope you enjoy your other vacation choices!

You are letting a family member cover your stay at a place you don't seem to want to go to? Couldn't you tell them no and let them save their money? :confused3
