Another "there's nothing for kids at USO" thread

Sorry about missing them et al.

There are so many wonderful people on this board that are always there to help somebody, how could one possibly remember them all!

You've been pretty helpful yourself, Calgarygary :goodvibes

When I first joined these boards, we were planning our first Disney trip w/ DS (then 5). I learned a LOT and (given Hurricane Charley was comin' straight for us) we had a good time. Last summer we went to UO, so the year before I starting "hanging" out on the UO boards. Well, I've made some good friends :grouphug: and had a lot of laughs over here. Come vacation time, we had such a GREAT time, we came home and bought AP's for UO. Just went to Epcot (& UO) in early Feb., and while researching Epcot, I can honestly say, it can become very overwhelming at the "Disney" boards! There is almost TOO much Disney info (I know, I know...it IS called the Dis) it blows your mind! I love UO and like the "closeness" of the UO boards. We don't bash Disney here, and I didn't bash Disney in my TR over there, but when somebody comes here, bashes UO, and we "make them see the light" and defend our beloved UO, WE in turn get bashed. I am tired of reading "there's nothing but thrill rides"...etc.... IMHO, (and HERE it's okay to have my opinion) there are better rides and effects at UO AND better eats at more reasonable prices. CW is eating and entertaining (singing and dancing "in the streets") whereas DTD is mostly shopping. I know Disney is a bigger park/area, so they need to charge more, but I feel Disney is only out for my money....I know some people think that of UO, but I feel UO is so much more affordable for families. On these boards, it's OKAY to like both parks....it's okay to voice your opinion....unlike the feeling over on the "Disney" end of the boards. I do feel like it's "us vs. them" and the UO peeps seem to be okay w/ being able to voice opinions without offensiveness....but the 'Disney' peeps don't seem to believe in 'voicing" opinions. Like that man who said his little girl "hate Universal cuz it "bashed" her princesses....funny maybe, but she had never been to UO and IMHO (cuz i can do that here), her father should have said she shouldn't "hate" something she doesn't know anything about=UO. I feel if you are going to spend a pretty penny on your vacation, you should learn/research it as much as possible. So many complain they have to pay to park at onsite hotels....but, they don't know that UO doesn't own those hotels, they complain about buying EP, instead of figuring out it's actually cheaper to stay onsite, (haven't heard/read anyone complain of ticket prices thus far tho  ) ...people seem to have a negative review of UO, but most don't seem they've done any research to ensure a 'good time'......but, i guess some parents will "brainwash" their kids and someday those kids will go to UO...and, some of them may actually LIKE it....and, be by here to enjoy the discussions we all have about it....heck, maybe one of them will be a mod or TM????
Thanks for listening to my rant....sorry...it was bound to come out sooner or later.............

I'm done rambling now

I think their biggest problem (if/when they do go to Universal) is they don't realize that Universal isn't Disney. I bet if they repeated that their whole trip, they'd enjoy it so much more. And who cares Universal makes fun of Disney, its in commercials daily now .. satellite vs cable, cell phone companies, soft drinks, etc to name a few.

Ummm, that post was supposed to be sarcastic. Fan2CSkr is a huge USF fan and posts here all the time.

Supposed, key word. Another failed attempt at humor. Sorry I forgot the :rolleyes1 or  when I posted above. I am glad to see someone that didnt know I was kidding get ticked off at me though! lol That would have ticked me off too.

What I find hysterically funny is that you're posting on the UNIVERSAL STUDIOS section of the disboards. I know that I am not interested in say issues dealing with biology...so I don't go the biology message boards.

If you don't like Universal studios, stay off the Universal Studios message boards!!! We are here to have discussions about helping each other out.

Sorry :flower3: It was just a little tongue in cheek.

To be fair, there is good incentive to bash one park or another. For those of us that love both parks for their unique approaches and offerings, it is very expensive. We have to invest in tickets for both parks - or possibly more if SW and BG are must do on your list. We have to invest time to appreciate both parks. To truely appreciate UO/IOA you should invest in an onsite hotel room. Finally, to get the most out of your trip, you find that 1 week often doesn't cut it and you are suddenly doubling your vacation investment to Orlando. By bashing one of the parks, and convincing yourself and/or your family that the other park just isn't worth it, you really do limit your investment. Problem is, I don't think that will maximize your return on investment.

Good point! I think that has a lot to do with it. I really believe some people arrive at UO determined not to like it. They want to come back here & tell their WDW clique they were right all along, & UO was horrible just as they thought it would be. Then I think there's those who are afraid to take their kids to Universal for fear they'll like it more than WDW. They find every reason possible to justify not going. As silly as it sounds, I think many people don't want to risk their status in the "In" crowd on here in order to take advantage of these wonderful parks. They're afraid of being considered a traitor. Very High Schoolish, if you ask me. No, really if you asked me, I'd say it's very Middle School or even more Elementary Schoolish. (Okay, so it's not a word, but you get the idea.) :p

Another good point that is probably very true...sad and pathetic...but true. I also wonder how many of these folks who bash UO on the Disney end of these boards actually do go to UO and enjoy it but won't admit it for fear of offending the clique (who can get quite nasty). I recall posting a response to a thread about staying onsite vs staying offsite where we outlined how we split our trip with 1 week offsite and 1 week at one of the Disney moderate resorts and preferred the offsite hotel. We ended up facing a lynch mob complete with torches, pitchforks, and lime green mickey heads... :sad2:

Not to fan the flames, but I guess most of you missed this thread on the Orlando baord (see post #11 and my reply) in which a poster warned everyone away from Universal's swearing employees, filth, overflowing garbage cans, and nearly offing an innocent young child with malicious negligence!

Maybe the new theme song for our thread - Presley's "In the Ghetto."

If Universal's "ghetto", what's Magic Kingdom? Apparently he had blinders on that day.

I can't really say I've ever been to the "ghetto", but if it's like UO, sign me up. :cool1: I'd be happy to move there. I'll start packing boxes right away. :hyper:
