Hi all- I have been looking for the answer to this one...for the first time this year we are flying a connecting SWA flight, the 2nd leg of the our trip is AT operated..... so...what does this mean for EBCI?
Can I buy EBCI for the trip? Or will it make a difference if we change planes to AT halfway thru? I can't believe I still don't know this yet....I purchased thru SWA site....

If the entire ticket is purchased through the SWA website you can buy EBCI for the entire flight, even though the second leg is thru Air Tran.. Southwest will give you the boarding passes for both legs. If the ticket is bought through the Southwest site all the rules of Southwest apply even if it connects to a flight operated by Airtran.

thanks..... would that 2nd flight(airtran) be any different if I do EBCI or not? just curious as I still can't figure out how the seating thing works for this....not overly concerned just wondering if it will affect that 2nd flight seating

AirTran doesn't use EBCI. If you go to Southwest's website, EBCI and seat assignment on AirTran is explained.

ok so from what I understand, I buy EBCI, it checks me in 36 hours before flight, I am also checked in for AT 2nd leg, but no extra seat options, just get whatever at 24 hours(?) automatically assigned?

Yes, unless you want to pay for a seat assignment before check in.
