we will be going to mco from Providence we are a party of 6. Myself, dh dd16, ds14, dd4 and ds2. I understand that we can probably preboard with the 2 younger ones but will they make my 16yo and 14yo board by themselves? Can they board with us?
But you can always Pre Board with your 2 younger ones, and get a row of 3.
Then let DH stay off with the other 2 older kids and just board with them, another row of 3..
In my experience the SW gate agents are extremely reasonable. You won't get a guarantee from anyone here, I bet. However, if you arrive and the flight isn't completely booked with too many families with small children they will not bat an eye at allowing your family to board together. They are fully aware of the inconvenience it could cause for parties to be split up. That said, they want to do whatever they can to get the flight boarded quickly. If the preboards are going to take more time, rather than less, they will have to make decisions in the interest of efficiency rather than convenience.
Slightly , but I have always considered the open seating boarding at SWA as a detriment. However, the considerable savings my family has achieved has always been worth the chance of being split up. For the record, we have never been split up. However, after reading about Delta's flight changes and the related nightmarish seat assignment situations that followed, and recently getting first hand reports from some friends I will take the few hours of nervous anxiety related to getting on a SWA flight and hoping to remain together over the weeks and months of checking, re-checking, calling up and re-doing assignments with the others any day! Amen and Alleluia!
