Another sports streaming service????

So basically FUBO minus BeIn and NBC’s college and EPL offerings, but plus Turner. Lose for soccer fans, win for basketball, and if the price is right maybe decent. Still doesn’t provide one stop shopping. Especially for Big 10 college fans; the league has content in both NBC and CBS,neither of which are included. Oh, and the NFL.

Depends on the price. ESPN, ESPN2 and FSN are the biggest holes in my streaming setup right now. I refuse to pay $50+/month to get those things but do miss them a bit. If it's $10-15 I'll probably get it and drop something else.

I'm going to hold off on judgement on whether it's a "win" or "loss" until I see the price. ESPN+ is currently $11/month. "The mothership" (ESPN) was reportedly $9(?)/month for cable subscribers. Add in ESPN2 and the others, I could easily see this new "service" costing $30+/month (after an introductory offer).

After I typed that, I read an article in USA Today where an "expert" predicted $40/month. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...spn-fox-warner-bros-viewers-know/72501606007/

Sports is a major want for me, so I’m very interested. Especially with Hulu. I get the bundle with Disney but I actually never really watch it. However, not sure if I’d spend $40 a month for it. I’ll stick with the current trio and enjoy all the hockey in the winter (my favorite sport anyway).

Now I’d spend 40 if it would include regional teams which I know isn’t possible with this deal, just saying.

It's ESPN trying to benefit from the Cord Cutters. Live sports is the main thing missing from On Demand (can't say "streaming", because that is available via YTTV & Hulu).
Yep, I agree. But I'm paying $76/month all in for YouTube TV where I get all the channels listed in the press release, except for ESPN+ (which I get separately for free). I also get a bunch of other non-sports programming. Their price point would have to be super attractive for me to dump YTTV for this new service. Anything over, say, $29/month and I'd probably just keep what I have.

Oh, I agree. We have Hulu, but I MIGHT consider this and drop Hulu live (so the only "live" would be Sports). I'm going to have to do the math.

ETA: Looks like I could go from $77/month for Hulu Live to $7/month for just Hulu stream, add Disney Plus for $8 (incl. w/Hulu live), and this sports, and I'd save $20/month.

It includes ESPN+, and there's a lot of regional (not necessarily professional) games on there, especially college.
Problem is the professional. I can’t watch Pirates or Penguins games which I hate. But I just couldn’t justify the price of cable anymore (or even the two streaming options that offer the channel). Best option would be FuboTV but at $80/month just to watch two local sports teams I just don’t know if it’s worth it.

Still a lot of shaking out needs to happen with Streaming IMHO. They need those rates to cover their costs, but seems their rates are too high for many to consider signing up.

This may be a way for WDW/DL to capitalize on the FIFA World Cup in terms of a way for Disney to host big watch parties on property. Disney would possibly be able to legally show matches on big screens during the event. That would get both soccer fans in the theme parks and spending money on food and beer which makes Disney even more money. Just throwing that idea out there. Telemundo/Peacock (Universal owns both) will probably show the matches in their Universal Studios theme parks in some compacity since they own the tv rights for the Spanish version. Both theme parks will have visitors that will also plan on going to games during, before, or after their trip. Neither company is going to miss the opportunity to cash in on this event in their theme parks. They will have 2026 world cup merchandise and national team jerseys on sale for sure too (90% of all of the WS countries usually qualify for the WC every edition). Sorry for going off topic but I think Disney has more on its mind when it comes to this deal than just getting new revenue from subscribers.
