Another split stay question.

We are planning on splitting our stay between probably the Poly and AKL unless we are able to get rooms at the WL. In order to get not stop flights to Orlando we have to drive almost 5 hrs to an airport.(would have to drive 2/3 anyway). This is very important to us because our last trip we spent well over 12 hrs stranded in Chicago with 3 children(4,4,and 22 months) due to weather. So we can either spend the night before our flight in a hotel and fly out early or take a later flight and stay an extra night in Orlando. Since we will be getting in late I hate to pay for a deluxe resort. Here's the question. Is it worth it to stay the first night at ASM in a family suite? It would save us about $300 but mean an extra move. We have never stayed a value resort and thought this would also give us some idea for future trips. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I would stay at asm, because you wouldn't really be fully unpacking for just one night, so that really eliminates the hassle.

Just have bell service transfer your luggage, go straight to a park in the morning, and return to your new hotel. Your luggage should be there. I think when we switched, they said around 4 hrs before your luggage would be there.

Happy planning!

If you have Disney transfer your luggage, it will be after 3pm before it is there and possibly later, plan accordingly. Make sure you have what you need out of the luggage.

IMO ASM is a horrible place but due to you having such a late arrival it might be okay.......Pack 1 bag with everything your family will need for the night so you don't have to open anything else up or search for pj's etc. In the morning you just put all the dirty clothes in that bag and off you go, have a great time!

We spent one night this past July at WL before switching to YC and then GF. By staying the one night at WL (standard room & we were upgraded to Bunkbed Woods View), we saved $140 as this one night the Disney hotel seasons changed from regular season to value season. Our flight cost was much less expensive to fly out a day early and check into WL for one night then to fly out the next day.

We actully took a cab early AM from WL to YC with our luggage to be assured we would have our luggage by early afternoon. I think the cab ride was only $15. When we transferred from YC to GF we let Disney handle our luggage. We have done this many times and never had a problem, although, luggage usually doesn't arrive until early afternoon. I believe they guarantee your luggage will arrive by 3:00 PM. Hope this wasn't too confusing just helpful. So, go for a one night stay, if it is less expensive!
