On the WDW website, it specifically says:

"Complimentary transportation throughout Walt Disney World Resort—including transportation to and from Disney Theme Parks and Disney Water Parks—is available to Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels."

Soooo, if I'm staying off-site, are all the transportation venues (bus, monorail, boat) not free? If not, how much are they? I was wanting to use the monorail or bus to/from parks to resorts for some meals.

I think what they mean is that they offer transportation from the WDW hotels directly to the theme parks. Once you are at a park, even if you are staying off site, the buses, monorail, and ferries are free to all.

I had assumed it would be free, but when I read that on the web site I got concerned. Thank you very much. :yay:

I could be wrong, but in the early 1980's they did check ID's. Although the wording is there, I've never seen them check ID's. The Mouse is happy to take your money and cart you around for "free".

Free transportation for a $200 dinner. I like it. They know exactly what they're doing, and they do it well.

Generally speaking, there is no ID needed for any of the WDW transportation options. BUT...if it's a very busy time of year, they could ask to see resort ID if the parks are closing to offsite guests. This happens a few times a year.
But the vast majority of the time, you need show nothing at all...just hop on the bus, boat or monorail.

I don't think I've ever been asked to show ID on any form of Disney transportation except DME. And this goes back many, many years.

Instances where you 'may' have to show resort ID...
1. EMH mornings and trying to get on the monorail at TTC
2. When the parks are going to close due to being at capacity, they will close to non-resort guests first. In order to get on the bus, monorail or boats, you may have to show resort ID in order to get to that park.

But, other than those situations, transportation is for everyone.
