So initially I wanted Coronado Springs, then we were bringing my niece so needed a 5 man room at CBR, didn't have one available.. so took pirate room...then realized only double beds.. so moved to AKL (YAY) but couldn't br
ing niece...:( But super excited about a deluxe stay...

Well TA called today and said POR had 5 man garden rooms available for our DATE with FD...

So now I am bummed about downgrading to POR, but happy I can bring my niece, as it isn't something her mom would be able to do for her. And still save $700 bucks

BUT... I am bummed about transportation issues since the buses have 5 stops at POR and then drives to POFQ and stops there...
my mom will be in an ECV so I can't drive us and we will need to ride buses..

Plus I am concerned about POR having a funky smell.... I am from Louisiana and know how awful the waterways here smell.

AND on top of that... ALL my ADRS are for 4 people...

Think I just lost some of the excitement. ..:(

The buses are not that bad. They will not always go to POFQ. Only issue you may have is that if you are at one of the last stops the bus or the scooter area may be full already and you have to wait for another bus.

You may be OK with the ADRs but you should try to change them to 5 people if possible.

Well, that is a bit of moving around. HOWEVER, I would not be bummed with a stay at POR! It is a fantastically beautiful resort! POR doesn't always share with POFQ and 4 stops only takes a few extra minutes. Request a room near the first pick up/drop off bus stop and ground floor for convenience with the ECV.

Call Disney Dining and ask for help getting those ADR's switched over, if you can. If you can't get another person added, there are almost always other places that can be booked.

Meanwhile, enjoy the great food court, Yeehaw Bob entertainment, lovely surroundings and comfortable rooms. Visiting WDW is all about the loved ones that are there to enjoy it with you! Give your niece a big hug and have a blast!!!!!

You will have lots of fun at POR!

First pick up is the West Depot. Just be sure to request that. I'm here now and we have only shared with POFQ for Epcot, I believe. It doesn't really add that much time to the ride.

What a great thing to do for your niece! We took our niece several years ago and have such great memories of that trip. She was not in a situation where she would otherwise get to go and it was MAGICAL!

We just got back from POR at the beginning of April, and I can promise you that nothing smelled bad at all. We almost exclusively used the east depot because it was very near our building, and it was the last stop more often than not. 90% of the time, we got on the bus and went straight to our destination.

We've stayed at POR twice over the years, and loved it!! The grounds were beautiful, and all I remember smelling is flowers. Busses ran fine, and the boat to DTD was nice to have as well.

Call and explain that you're adding your niece - mention that it's her first trip - and see what they can do for you. I bet your ADR's will get worked out.

How far of a walk is that to "the soda machine"? Mom will have to park her ECV at guest services (we stayed at pop with just 4 peeps and her ecv didnt fit in the room there) will have to walk from there to room and then to the restaurant area for her endless drinks...

I don't know why you are so concerned about the buses. POR has the same number of stops as CSR (4, not 5) which was your first choice, and fewer stops than CBR which was your second choice. POR does not share buses with POFQ all the time.

The resort does not smell bad. It is not in Louisiana.

The rooms at the mods are larger than the values. I've never heard of anyone not being able to fit an ECV into the room.

The soft drink refills are in the food court. Have a look at the resort map on the POR thread to select an AB building to request. Or pay the up charge for a preferred room.

I had an ECV in POFQ (rooms the same size) with no problem.
With 5 people?

And the concern about the bus now is that I didn't know of the bus issues at either of the other resorts. ... every time we have stayed before we had dedicated buses. Or off site, and before the ECV.

And I am sure the ecv fits in the room, but with 5 people, luggage for 5 people, the souvenirs we will purchase The room will become claustrophobic... just like pop did with just 4. Midway through stay we had to start leaving the ECV with guest relations. Wasn't an issue as we booked preferred rooms. Short walk.

I have no problem paying for preferred. I asked for the blue rooms, building 14 specifically. There are none available. I was asking how far the walk is to the drink machine from the west depot stop.

Drink machine from West Depot is a long walk. 10 minutes, I'd guess. More for slow walkers. Less for fast walkers.

Being the last stop for pick up, were you able to find a seat on the bus or did you have to stand? Thanks!

You could put the suitcases under the sink and between a bed and the bathroom wall, and keep the ECV in the closet area.
You could ask to have the table and chairs removed and keep the ECV there.
You could move the table to the closet area and place the ECV where the table was.

While your other resort/s stored the ECV for you, whether it's yours or a rental you're ultimately responsible for it. Keeping it in the room gives you complete control, including the ability to ensure it's properly charged every night.

I didn't know I could ask them to remove table and chairs! Thank you. That would be a good choice. We don't eat in the room....

This ^^^

And, during a 6 day stay at POFQ, we never once stopped at or shared with POR. So, there's that.
I know it does happen from time to time, but it's not always.

POR is beautiful, btw, and the food court is awesome!

I would really really recommend buying some sodas to keep in the fridge (beverage cooler) in the room, for those times when no one feels like making the trek.

The PO resorts still take faxed room requests. More info (and TONS more) found here.

If youre from Louisiana the smell is going to probably be better at POR....just kidding... You opened that can. :smooth:

LMAO.... I guess I am sensitive to the way the bayou stinks. err smells.. Lived here 15 years now and still dont like it... lol Hubby has a boat that I have never been in on the water... i dont like bugs, or brown water, or alligators, or the smell...

I am from South west TN. We had a paper mill down the way. Horrible smell when the wind blew down the Tennessee river.

You may see some bullfrogs in the little ponds at POR. The bugs aren't bad at all.
