I ran estimates for both Alamo and Thrifty and for the cheapest car and collision insurance, Alamo will cost $300 for five days; Thrifty will cost $200 for five days. Do you think it could be such a big difference in price?

It is possible! Just double check the rate to see if it includes all the taxes. Some companies include the taxes in the quote and others leave that out until you get to the counter.

Rates can vary a LOT, depending on codes, coupons and promotions. Also, some companies are just not competive in certain markets. One more thing, seriously reconsider the collision insurance, it is most likely duplicating, at little or no real value, coverage you already have, and, VERY expensive.

I don't have collision on my car at home.
