When my own kids were babies (and for my 13 year old grandson) I always used those sleeper things with feet - both for sleeping and up time. I thought they were warm and practical and I only dressed them up for special occasions.

When I gifted my DIL with some she gave me a withering look and said "do you expect me to keep them in pajamas all day." I also gave her a lot of very cute onsies which she never used.

How do you feel about the sleeper things? Someone recommended onsies and I plan on buying a few.

I am sure DD's friends will give her a shower. They are all having babies now.

My DD Sarah is the least fussy person on earth. She told her bridesmaids she didn't care what shoes they wore - Birkenstocks if that's what they wanted were fine. I took all the girls to the hairdresser who told me it was the most relaxed bridal party she had ever seen.

Of course Sarah will choose the big stuff, but I cannot wait to start buying some of the little things.

Do the strollers with carseats also have the bases someone talked about?

And she asked me to stay for a few weeks after her maternity leave expires because she doesn't want to put the baby in daycare until she has to. I said yipee to myself and reluctantly (yeah right) said ok. Wonder if DH can manage by himself for a year or two - or until the baby starts school!!

Well I was not a big fan of the footed pjs either. When my kids were infants, I loved the gowns for sleeping. It made a diaper change that much easier and socks were just fine for warmth.

As far as the stroller/carseat, mine did come with a base. That was 2 years ago.

Also, I know you didn't ask, but my absolute favorite gift was the car seat cover that fits over the entire base, then there was no need for blankets. I have since given some as gifts and all the moms agree.

The one a friend gave to us after he was finished with it had TWO bases, but I think he ordered the second one from the manufacturer (sp??) because they needed it. It's a good thing they did because we need two bases also..one for DH's car and one for DMIL's car since she babysits for us.

We have footie PJs and little nightgowns for DS but he hates the nightgowns and it's too warm to wear the footie PJs as of yet. So we'll see what happens this fall/winter when it starts to get chilly ( as if it ever got even CLOSE to being cold here:tongue: ).

We have one of those too, but it's fairly heavy and it's been too warm to use it. Darn me having a summer baby!:teeth: Now I'll have to wait till he's a bit older to use it. I think they are the CUTEST things though. :)

For the first few months I loved the footed sleepers!!! The lightweight ones, not the heavy ones. I think newborns are darling in those, and they stay on nicely, they don't ride up or anything. Always just make sure they have snaps down the legs for diaper changes. Also, my kids were big spitters, so they sometimes wore 3 or more of them a day LOL.

I liked the ones w/o feet because the feeted ones never fit DD right. The legs were usually too long and the feet part would be just flapping away. Of course this isn't a problem with a newborn.

I had a few playsuits (one piece long arms & legs w/o feet) that DD would wear to bed and to play in. I'd only really dress her if we were going out. In the summer nothing beats a onesie.

As most new moms will attest it's a good day if you actually get a shower let alone trying to get a baby dressed.

ITA about the onesies, which is why we have so many of them. Every time my DM goes to a garage sale she picks up some for me and then I launder them so they are clean.

As most new moms will attest it's a good day if you actually get a shower let alone trying to get a baby dressed.

I must be a SuperMom because I manage to get those things done on a daily basis as well as give DS a bath. ::yes::

Hurrah for motherhood! MOMMY POWER!:wave2:
