Another question about VQ for Hagrid's (large group)

There are 14 of us in our extended family group - 1 family of 6, 1 family of 5 and 1 family of 3. I'm used to WDW where everyone is linked together on your phone. As I understand it, your ticket isn't necessarily linked by person to an app... is that correct? So if you want to jump in the VQ, does it just ask how many in your party and you go from there? If that's the case, do you recommend we "split up" to have a better chance of all getting in before the VQ closes, or should one of us put in 14 for our group and take our chances?

I'm pretty sure that you can only select up to 8 to join a VQ, but you can have multiple people on the app getting a VQ at the same time, so just have several people getting on the app at the same time and you will be able to get everyone in with a couple of reservations.
