Another question about the dining plan (the $37.99 one)

Okay, I'm starting to look into the dining plan for a future trip that I don't even know when it will be, but since this plan is now available to DVC...I'm interested.

So, I use the link to the restaurants on the plan...then go to Deb's site to see the menus...and find Pepper Market at Coronado Springs and find these items...

Chicken or Beef Fajita Platter - $12.95
chicken Kung Bao or stir fry beef and an egg roll $15.95
Ribeye Steak, Potato, Vegetable - $18.95
Grilled Tuna w/Rice Medley & Veggies - $15.95
Carved Roast of the Day, with potato and veggies- Market Price
Half Rotisserie Chicken with French Fries - $10.25
Homemade Individual Pizza - Two Toppings - $8.25
Pepper Market Special - All Toppings - $9.25
Calzone - Cheese and Pepperoni - $8.95
Chicken Calzone - $9.25

This place is listed as a counter service, which means the dining plan allows for 1 entree, 1 dessert and 1 non-alcoholic beverage. So, would I be able to order one of the above entrees, choose a dessert and a non-alcoholic drink?


Anyone have any answers?

I'm just surprised to see some of the items on the menu from Pepper Market...never been there and never looked at it before. It seems that it might be a nicer choice for a counter service meal.

You sure can! We stayed at CSR during Christmas / New Years and were also on the Dining Plan.

The Pepper Market, in my opinion, has the best selection and deals to be found on using your CS credits! I actually was able to get a steak with a baked potato and grilled veggies with dessert (I didn't order dessert though, I was too full!) and a drink and it was only 1 CS credit!!!

Edited to add that I also had the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken with Fries too and it was very good! Again, it was only 1 CS credit!

In all our trips we've only eaten at the counter service locations for breakfast many years ago and once at the ABC Commisary last June so I am absolutely clueless. But I am really pleased to find the nicer options at Pepper Market.

I forgot to mention that prior to our trip I read several times that the Dining Plan dessert choices at the Pepper Market were pretty limited (like a cookie or a brownie or something), and don't know if they've changed that or not so I can't help with that at all because I was always too full to ever want it anyway!

What worked really well for us on the Dining Plan with the Pepper Market, was on most days we would order a late breakfast (also huge...eggs, sausage, potatos, biscuit) and use that as our CS credit, have a snack later on, and then use our TS for dinner at one of the character meals such as Chef Mickey's, buffets like Boma, or a wonderful Epcot restaurant like Le Cellier or Les Chefs de France.

On the couple of nights that we left the parks early and used our TS credit for lunch at the park (Sci Fi at MGM), we would come back to the Pepper Market and use our CS for dinner!

It was an incredible amount of food each day!!!

We saved our last CS credit for the Pepper Market and it was the best! They told us we could choose ANY entree we wanted, a beverage, and dessert was a choice of a cookie, muffin or yogurt. You get so much to eat at Pepper Market ... all our entrees were actually platters of food. Pepper Market is more like a table service then a counter service. We were too full for dessert, so since it was the day we were leaving we got cookies (huge and delicious) and muffins (the same) to take with us. And by the way, the CS credit also took care of the 10% gratuity Pepper Market adds on.

Peppermarket is Very Good for a counter service but their best desserts( German chocolate cake, flan, whipped cream cake) aren't included.
I'll be paying OOP for them!

ADR at a Counter Service?

No need for an ADR it is counter service. Think of it like you would a food court at the other mods or value resorts--though the food is more plentiful.

There are many thread on the board that compare dining plans...the one cost with CS, TS and a snack version, the Disney Dining Experience card which saves you 20% (for Florida residents and AP holders only)...to use a dining plan or not...just do a search and you'll be reading for days...

We've never used the one cost plan before...it wasn't offered the last trip we paid OOP for in 2003...did a cruise in 2004 so all the food is included and bought DVC, which until now wasn't able to use this dining plan...so I'm looking at it more in depth now for future trips and it's looking pretty good. We tend to do breakfast in the room or head to Kona, which is worth 1 TS credit, so a CS lunch/dinner and a TS dinner/lunch would work for us...if I can convince the boys that counter service isn't a bad thing...don't even ask...we just tend to use a TS meal midday instead of the back to the room break.

Now, on our last 2 trips we used the DDE card and saved...saved...saved! But that is a different topic and a different thread...again there are many on the subject. The thing that is nice about the DDE card is it does include alcoholic beverages...not that we are heavy drinkers, but on vacation since we're not driving, we tend to have one with a meal or two...so at $7.50 a drink...that saves $1.50...good deal!

Thanks again to everyone for all the info on Pepper Market...it does sound really good! And to the person who mentioned the moderate resort food courts...from what I read at Deb's site, I'd have to agree with you...they do look pretty good...again, for us, we have no experience with any of the moderate resorts, so it's just gonna be a matter of "branching out" for us.

We love Pepper Market. It is our favorite CS by far.

We usually eat there on our first night of our travel day and many times have had a great Prime Rib meal. Other times it is a steak dinner. I love the grilled veges that come from the grill section. You can substitue other veges, like from the Wok area right behind the Grill area. You get a baked potato or other style potato, too.

Our kids had some Italian thing last time, like a bit Pizza only with sealed edges. It was huge! They got a nice side salad and dessert and beverage with that.

The desserts have changed but you can still get the super yummy ones if you pay out of pocket. With the dining plan you get cookies, scones, muffins and I think something else but not the chocolate and carrots cakes that are devine!

With so much variety and large servings of great food, it is by far the best CS in the all of Disney World.

Okay, I found the list through the DVC members website, but you have to be a member so that might not help. I know you have to be able to view it somewhere. AH-HA! Found it...
