Another potty training ques

My kids will be 2 years 8 months when we go to disney. I was wondering if you thought it was easier to have a child in diapers or a just potty trained child? I had thought that I would really focus on it this summer, but now I was actually thinking that diapers may actually be easier than running to the bathroom every 5 min. any thoughts which would be easier? thanks

I think diapers would be easier. If not, you'll be running to the bathroom and with luck, you'd make it in time, never mind if there are lines.

Plus, it depends on your child. My son is almost 2.5 and still shows no signs of interest in the potty.

I vote diapers all the way! I would take changing a toddler any day over asking every 20 minutes "do you have to go potty?", visiting every potty at every rest stop/gas station/store between your house and WDW, packing lots of extra clothes for accidents, trying to get them to hold it while you find/wait for a bathroom, etc. Now that my older dd is 5, public bathrooms are easier, but still not great. I'd say we take at least 10 minutes per pop between putting paper down, pulling down pants, waiting for her to go, waiting for her to wipe (she is very throrough! ), pulling everything up, washing her hands, drying her hands...... I can change my 2 yo dd's diaper in about 30 seconds! Anyway, just my opinion. I think 2y8m is very young to have them totally trained anyway, at least for my kids!

I'd really let your kids lead the way. We went this past October with DD who was 27 mos. I had no intention of potty training her until we came back. But at 23 months, she started to show interest. I tried to fight it for several weeks but DH insisted she was ready. Her pre-school teacher also thought she was ready, so I gave up and we started potty training 10 weeks before our trip. I thought for sure we were setting ourselves up for disaster on our trip. But, it only took 4-6 weeks before she was consistently dry and accident-free. No accidents the whole trip and we never had to jump out of line. We just asked her if she needed to go after every ride/show.

It would have been easier if she were in diapers, but only because we had our 6 month-old, so we were going to the baby center anyway. I think a child who is "done" potty training is easier to deal with than one in diapers, but the diapers are definitely easier than being in the midst of potty training.

So, if your kids are ready before your trip, I wouldn't hold them back. However, I certainly wouldn't push it either.

How much time do you have? Being trained is easier than diapers most of the time, except at night and in the car. However, it took a while (3 months?) to reach the point where we didn't worry about accidents anymore. He never really had them anyway, but we don't have to remind him so much anymore.

DS was trained at about 34 months. It happened very fast once he had incentive (going to school). But going out was a pain for a while, and still is sometimes if I forget to have him go before we leave the house.

Now that he goes standing up (we told him that 3 year olds do that) it's so easy! Makes me jealous, LOL!

We talked to our dd for a year about potty training, and tried (some!). However, she was 2y 3m when we went, and I was VERY glad she was still in diapers/pullups! So much easier to deal with.

We had told her she couldn't get in the Mickey pool during the cruise, but she had a good time playing in the ear (the toddler area)!
