Sorry for another post about Nassau. I am really struggling with our plans for Nassau day.

I considered the Atlantis aqua adventure but DD5 will not be 48 inches. Seems like a lot of money to not be able to enjoy the slides. I also considered blue lagoon beach day vs dolphin encounter. The reviews I have read make it seem pretty time consuming to actually get to the island and it seems there aren't many options for ferry boats back to ship. I thought about staying on the ship but I don't want to regret not experiencing the Bahamas or risk that the kids will not have enough to do.

Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on these options! Thanks guys!!

Because a lot of people don't get of the ship at Nassau there's a ton to do on the ship. Usually a lot of activities, pool time, and more to enjoy.

The only time we get off the ship is at castaway cay, port days are the best days to experience the slides, pools etc the ship is practically empty. Ive already spent so much on the cruise I'm not spending a penny more off the ship.

We got off to walk through the straw market but waited until the excursions were gone. Probably spent about an hour off the ship. I was at the same spot as you - Atlantis was my plan but DD4 wasn't tall enough for most. Blue island sounded fun but I got out-voted. We swam and used the aquaduck. The ship was busy but we still had fun.

There's quite a bit the under-48 inch-ers can do at Aquaventure. Kids under 48 can ride in double tubes with a parent on the wavy/rapids river system:

There's two great kids pool with smaller slides:

Plus the lazy-Lazy River:

And a few great beaches.

I've been visiting Atlantis nearly annually for 16+, including when my kids were infants and toddlers. This might be the first year that both are over 48, though we're cutting it close with my younger.

Which is long way of saying that if you want to do Atlantis, there's plenty for all ages to enjoy.

We're planning on walking over to the pirate museum. We tried last time we were there but it was a national holiday and was closed so we are going to ring that bell again. Then back to the ship to enjoy the rest of the day there. Just a light activity. :)

If you pick Aquaventure, can you also do the beaches there? or just the pools?

We did Blue Lagoon (Sea Lions) about a month ago on our first cruise. While I felt that there were some very strong pros and cons about the actual experience, I see you are concerned about the transportation itself. It didn't take more than 20 minutes or so to get to the Island. I was confused because when we booked it said 45 minutes. But on the boat it was announced that it would be 20-25 minutes. There were 3 or 4 return times back to the boat available. We took the first boat back, went back onboard and took showers, then go back off to get our passports stamped. Then we still had several hours before the Dream left. All together I think we only spent 2 hours on the Island. So you aren't stuck there all day.

We did the Atlantis beach day (without the Aquaventure) and a great day. You can use their beach and eat their food. Also, they have underground "ruins" that are free to walkthrough and were really cool and an aquarium that you can walk through. It was fun.

Are the passes refundable if the weather is lousy? Are there lockers there? Had initially planned to stay on the ship, but the pictures look cool. Also, has anyone been in the water in December?

following!

Just so you know, if you want to follow a thread, there's a little link at the upper right of the first post that says "Watch Thread." By posting in a thread, you aren't necessarily going to get notifications unless someone specifically mentions you or replies to you.

Do you have to pay to go to the beaches? I know Hilton has a day pass. Is it the same for the beaches at Atlantis? Is there a better beach to go to?

There are free beaches available, closest to the cruise port would be Junkanoo and Cable. The beaches at the Atlantis resort are not free, you would have to pay for some sort of a day pass there.

Great, thanks. I'll have to look in to all options and decide.
