First of all - do I just call and add it to the room reservation? Do you recommend sending the fax also? How soon do you send it and what should it say? Also - which section will be best for us? We need as close as possible to a smoking area (for my parents), in a halfway queit location, non-preferred. I am leaning towards really liking the fourth floor rooms facing the lake (even better if you get a view of Epcot) and I seen some lovely pictures of first floor rooms (although I am unsure they are all disabled access rooms - we HAVE to have a bathtub for my daughter). Of course, the close access to the smoking area's takes presidence over anything else :headache: . Thanks so much! You all have been such a lifesaver for me (I'm planning our first trip since 1988).

Ask for bulding five facing the lake, as close to the lake as possible. I know for sure there are two smoking areas there - one right near the end of the building, and one between that one and building six but closer to five.

There's a thread stuck at the top of this forum that has links to maps of all the resorts, showing the smoking areas.

First floor makes THE absolute most sense, just for ease of access. The accessible rooms are all closer to the elevators, and on all (or at least three) levels.

You can fax if you want, but there are numerous reports of faxes being ignored due to volume. Call NOW and add your requests, in the order of importance, to your reservation - and keep them as minimal as possible for better success.

There are smoking areas all along the walkway along the lake so I don't think your parents would have a problem finding one. Personally, I wouldn't even put that in my request. From your post, having a bathtub is the most important request (honestly, there are smoking areas for your parents and they aren't hidden and they won't have to walk far). We jsut got back and were in the 50s, building 2 (room 2103). We had a bathtub, were o the first floor and faced the bowling pin pool. It was a bit noisy, though. The nearest smoking area was on the other side of the pool so short walk.

Call now for your request and I'd say something like "room with a bathtub, fourth floor if possible facing the lake". And leave it at that. Or if you really want the lake view say "room with a bathtub, facing the lake, fourth floor if possible". Requests are usually taken in the order you request them.

I'm not saying that your parents wishes for close to a smoking area isn't important. I'm just saying there are enough of them around so it's just a short walk to one of them.

There are plenty of smoking areas for your parents. (The last time we were there, you'd have thought the whole dang resort was a smoking area...but that's another story...)

Make sure you have your requests noted on your reservation (in order of importance). Get there and check in as early as you can--they will have more rooms 'unspoken' for that they can rearrange to accomodate you if need be.

We always send a fax 3 days prior to our arrival--each time they've assured us it was recieved and noted. Maybe it makes a difference, maybe it doesn't, but it doesn't hurt anything. To the best of my knowledge, I don't think we have been 'blacklisted' as 'fax bandits' yet.:rolleyes1

there are some rooms in the 50's that look over at Epcot and you can see Illuminations i think its like 25-39 or something Idont know look on youtube there is a video where you can see!:)

You can see Spaceship Earth from bldg 2, in 50's. But, you have to be on the back side, facing the entrance road and parking lot. It is off in the distance but you can see it.

Thank you for all your help. In the end I didn't want to seem to picky. I called and added the dining plan to our package and had them add the room preference. I requested a room with a bath tub, on either the first or fourth floor (I've heard on the Pop thread they tend to be the more quiet rooms). From the sound of all your replies - the smoking sections will be close regardless.
