DH and I are set for WDW on Columbus Day weekend. I am set to have three dogs boarded. I may very well be down t two. :(
My oldest is a yellow lab/sheppard mix. We aren't her original owners, so gon't know her real birth time.
We have known her 12+ years. She wasn't a pup when we first saw her. Probably around 2.
She has lived much longer than anyone ever expected.
I know all that logically. But it still will be hard.
But she is deteriorating this week. Just like an old person ready to die, she lays around and sleeps a lot.
Her main problem has alway been BAD arthritis for several years. These last two days she doesn't even want to move her back legs.
She is a 70+ pound dog. So carrying her around is out of the question.
She use to NEVER *go* in the house. And this last month has occasionally urinated in the house.
I wonder if she just doesn't want to take the time/effort to go out and no one is around.....
We sated penning her in her favorite secluded area while we are at work. She seems hapy to go in there and be alone. :(
Time to make a trip to the vet for an analysis. But I think we both know it will be soon.
With any luck she goes n her own duringthe night.
So sorry to bring anyone down. I know many of us have gone through this and knew that we could cry on each other's shoulders. :(
Poor ol' girl TOBY could use some PD.

I'm so sorry. We've been through this. :( (((hugs)))

Poor Toby...and poor you. I am so sorry. Sending tons of pixie dust to you and Toby!!

I'm so sorry. {{{{hugs}}}}}

I'm so sorry to hear this... we went through something similar with a few of our furbabies. Sending tons of PD Toby's way. {{{HUGS}}}

I know your dog is old, but I don't see any reason to start planning a funeral when she hasn't even see the dr yet. Gosh, I had a dog who lived several years with heart failure and at least a year after she started having intermittent paralysis in her back legs. But then, plenty of people would have given up on her at the first episode.

Hugs to your pup. I definitely recommend boarding her at your vet's clinic rather than just a boarding kennel.

{{{Hugs}}} I'm so very sorrry. Losing a pet is hard. :( It sounds like Toby has had a long and happy life, though. Get her to a vet asap to see what a professional has to say about the situation...maybe it'll be better than you think.
