Another perspective on EMH

Even if you aren't crazy about the rides that are open, it's a great time for the kids to meet some characters and get their picture taken with them. We always do EMH at MK because we can have Fantasy Land pretty much wrapped up before the park opens, and last year we did it at Epcot, too. The only thing I wanted was Test Track, but the the Character Caravan was there to greet us and the kids had a ball getting their picture taken with the characters.

sharonk,

What was the EMH like at the AK last week? We are debating going to the AK on Monday for EMH or Sunday because EMH is too crazy.

Tiggerlover99-

Wow! I love that! Thanks!!!

We were there during the last week of May. Early in the week, we all got up early at were at the EMH park before opening - so was everyone else! TOT - 60 minute wait, RNRC - 45 minute wait! By mid-week, we were at a non-EMH park at opening and did many more rides that way than at the EMH park. TOT - 10-15 minute wait, RNRC 5-10 minute wait. We're going to avoid the EMH parks during busy times from now on.

We'll see what happens on our return trip in the middle of October.

We are going in Mid August and are planning on trying the EMH at Animal Kingdom on Monday and then EMH at MK on Thursday. Hopefully with 3 kids, 11,7,and 2 we can get alot of rides in and be back at the hotel by noon or so and rest.. This is there first visit to MK and I'm looking forward in making it there best vacation they ever had.. Also does any one know or heard when they will post the E-Nights schedule past the 13th. of August. We are arriving at POP on the 15th and really would like to try that E-Nights if possible...

Can anyone tell me how to get the count down clock when you post a message... Thanks..

I've always been a big fan of EMH, but this last trip may change my mind. Sunday's EMH in MK wasn't too bad, but Weds. in Epcot was crazy! I got FP for TT and then joined my family in line. We were going to ride again before our fast pass time, but the line was already 45 min. at 8:20! HISTA is no longer open during EMH, so there are only 3 rides open! We waited for JIYI to open, used our TT fastpass and went back to the hotel.

Then Thursday's MK EMH was again CRAZY! SO many people there before 8am! Didn't get to ride much...at 8:30 Peter Pan was already a 30 minute wait and Pooh was 45 minutes!

By contrast, Friday (all day and evening) was wonderful in the MK! We rode Splash 3x and Big Thunder 3x, Jungle Cruise, Alladin, and Tiki Birds all between 9 and noon! Not many people at all!

So, we may convert to the "day after EMH" plan!

Carmen

We usually go at very busy times (Christmas/NYE, 4th July, etc) and EMH is invaluable. My family hates getting up early, but they hate standing in line more!

Tiggerlover91, I love "MADE MAD"! Used in a sentence: "I was MADE MAD when my family slept in and missed the EMH!"

The EMH at AK last Monday was not very good. We arrived right at 8:00, walked directly to Kilamajaro Safaris and at 8:15, the stand-by line already had a 30 minute wait, so, we got a FastPass to ride at 9:05 and walked through the "Forest Exploration Trail" or whatever the exhibit next door is called, until 9:05 and then rode the safari. Then, we walked over and saw the first showing of Tarzan Rock, which was packed. After that, we walked over to Dinosaur...it was only 11:15, but the stand-by line wait was over an hour! So, we left and went to another park.

IN contrast, we also went to AK on Saturday morning (not EMH) at 9:00 and it was great! In 3 hours time, we rode Dinosaur twice, Primeval Whirl twice, Triceratop Spin twice, saw Lion King and saw It's tough to be a bug. Even when we left around noon, the crowds were still reasonable.

Good Luck!

Sharon

It really makes me mad when I read that people that are not staying on property are getting into EMH. That's probably the reason it's so crowded. That is so unfair! People pay a lot of money to stay on Disney so they can enjoy the extra benefits. EMH being one of them. I really feel that they should do something about this. It's not fair that I have to share the park during EMH with people that shouldn't even be there! I would like to contact Disney about this. Does anyone know who to contact and have an e-mail address?

Suerob, if your complaint causes some changes and you actually go to a EMH, you aren't going to like it. Picture this: all those people standing in line, waiting for the gates to open for EMH. As each one reaches the entrance, they are asked to produce their room key. Since a good half of them are in Vacation LaLaLand, they then have to dig through their fanny packs, etc., looking for the key. Thus keeping all the people behind them from entering the park. Even if they have someone yelling "have your room key ready!", those in LaLaLand won't hear it. This is why they don't check passes etc. at the bus stops. Disney knows that there are some abuses, but they are playing the odds, and trying to avoid annoying guests. It's not a perfect system, but it's better than the alternative!
