Another perk bites the dust? Nope! STILL TOONs ON CH 96

Some resorts I've stayed at had this channel and others did not. It seems like a no-brainer that WDW would have this available on all TVs in all the resorts though. :confused3

Totally true. How can the little ones learn about classic Mickey Mouse? He's not just the CGI Clubhouse Mouse!!!!

They should have a few channels. Run the classic movies, too. How about an all Mickey Mouse Club channel?

I'm in. My husband and I wore out the cartoons in December. Next trip, 24*7 Mickey Mouse Club or classic movies. :rotfl2:

Did you ever think that maybe Disney doesn't want you staying in your room watching TV. :goodvibes

They want you in the parks, eating, buying, and spending. :thumbsup2

We don't have to worry as my 14 year old watches the "Top Seven" channel non-stop when we are in the room. He has the thing pretty well memorized.:lmao:

UGH! That is all my kids wanted to watch too!!

We just stayed at the Poly the 1st week in December. You could definitely still get the cartoon channel in the room. You can't scroll to it, you have to know that it is channel 96 and punch in the number. My DD watched that thing non-stop every time we were in the room. We stayed at WL last year, and you definitely can't get the channel to come in there. I tried everything.

In 2008 we stayed at the Poly. My DS LOVED the classic cartoons that were played on a continuous loop on one of the channels on the in room TV.

In 2009 we stayed at the GF. The cartoons were no where to be found except for the small kid tvs in the lobby.

We are in the middle of planning our 2010 trip and plan to return back to the Poly. My question is.... do they still play the classic cartoons in room.... or did all the resorts get rid of them.... or was it just a fluke the the GF didn't have them? Or did they get rid of them and plan to bring them back?

We are DVC and stayed at the VWL in early Dec 09. and we had what I believe you are referring to as the classic cartoons on the tv in our room? The black and white Mickey cartoons. The channel in the living area stayed on it most of the time and our grandson (almost 3) would watch them and we just scolled through channels and would find it and eventually leave it there for him to watch. Not sure if this is what you are referring to? Are they gone now? DW said that we were not able to get it on our bedroom tvs, but we got it no problem on the living room one (We were staying in a 2 bedroom villa) not sure if that matters?

I think it's more like a TV problem.
Channel 96 may not be in the channel lineup on the TV.

One time we did channel up trying to find it to no avail, punched in 9 6 and there it was.

I have read that at some of the resorts the TV's might skip past channel 96, so you need to press the numbers on the remote to watch it. So maybe those who claim did not see it went past it without realizing it.

All star Movies had channel 96 and the kids watched the cartoons when we were there December 18-20. Then we were at CBR December 20-24 and, even pressing 96 we could not get the cartoons. The kids were bummed but happily they had already watched the loop at Movies at least three times:thumbsup2.

That is so good to know!!! Thank you! It seems so odd that some resorts get it in the room and others don't.......:confused3

That surprises me that they would take Lifetime as it is a Disney owned channel.

They took Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Channel off during my August trip to BLT. They were there the first two or three days, then gone. I didn't have the cartoons at BLT or at BC last month. I'll be at FW next, with a dvd player, so I'll be taking my Pluto cartoon DVD's with me, just in case.

I just double checked. It seems to be a new cartoon loop, but they are there :thumbsup2

Some television are NOT programmed for 96 and therefore you can't even get there by hitting "9" - "6" ... you have to go into the channel programming for the TV set to enable the channel.

If that sounds like too much - call maintenance and ask for help.

Let's change the title of this thread to "Another Perk Returned?" :) Hahah :)

I had been looking for that thread and couldnt find it :rotfl:

Part of the problem could be when the TV's got thier channels "programmed" into memory. They may have forgotten to turn those channels "on" in some rooms. You should be able to mannually go to those channels if your remote has numbers on it. If you only have channel up/down, you may have to call for help.

In my experience and many stays, some resorts had it and some did not. It could however be caused by the TV programming problem mentioned above, which I never considered.

Yes I saw that other thread and considering chiming in that the poster was incorrect, but decided to leave it alone since I hadn't been to WDW for 6 months and I figured something could have changed!

Not really worthy of a crisis to me, in any case!

1) The cartoons are on the cable.
2) They are not turned on or off at any particular resorts.
3) They are available at all resorts.
4) Just have to tune the TV, or ask maintenance to do it.

NOTE: A lot of folks complained that cartoons were not available at their resort. They were incorrect. It is just a matter of tuning in.

Now if this thread was posted before 12/17...LOL

I should have called...should have known better! DD really missed this in the room....always helped her during "quiet/nap/bedtime"!

ok, I missed it...!

Thanks for the info....will be helpful to many!!!
