In 2008 we stayed at the Poly. My DS LOVED the classic cartoons that were played on a continuous loop on one of the channels on the in room TV.

In 2009 we stayed at the GF. The cartoons were no where to be found except for the small kid tvs in the lobby.

We are in the middle of planning our 2010 trip and plan to return back to the Poly. My question is.... do they still play the classic cartoons in room.... or did all the resorts get rid of them.... or was it just a fluke the the GF didn't have them? Or did they get rid of them and plan to bring them back?

Currently the cartoons and lifetime channels are gone.

I was told in a meeting last month that Disney may be changing their channel line up in the near future.

My DS & DD really missed those old cartoons too on our last few trips. My DS11 has always loved the old cartoons and looked forward to watching them over and over. I really wish they would bring them back for the kids:thumbsup2

I forgot to add that I bought DVDs of old Mickey cartoons and just bring them with us. I love to hear him chuckling when he watches them as they are relaxing at night.

Does the Poly have DVD players in their regular rooms? (non club level or what have you?)

Last month when my family and I stayed at the Contemporary they still had the classic cartoon channel, so not all the resorts got rid of it.

hmmm.... well both answers give me a bit of hope.... I will check out the Poly thread.....

Fort Wilderness (yes, the campground sites ALL have Disney cable) still had the classic cartoon channel when I was there the 2nd week of December. It was waaaaayyyyy up on channel 93 or 96? It was the last channel you could tune to regardless.

No DVD players in the regular rooms unfortunately.

Correct. :thumbsup2 It's 'Channel 96 for your classic Disney toon fix' :goodvibes Seriously, I had to come up with the rhyme last year so I could remember the channel. And I only found out the channel when the Poly concierge staff put this channel on in the TV in the lounge.

I remember it being high up on the number scale.... like you mentioned...

In August of this year they were no where to be found at the GF, except the lobby tvs........

AllStar Movies has the cartoons - a big reason my kids like staying there.
We always do split stays, and on our trips in August and November stayed also at Pop, WL, AKL, FQ - never found a cartoon channel at any of those resorts.

We did a split stay in November/December at POFQ and the Contemporary. The cartoon channel was only in the lobby at POFQ but was in the room at CR. My kids loved seeing these cartoons they had never seen before.

Definately gone at POP (except for the kids area in the lobby). I miss it. It was a great way to get the kids to sleep at night.

We don't have to worry as my 14 year old watches the "Top Seven" channel non-stop when we are in the room. He has the thing pretty well memorized.:lmao:

That surprises me that they would take Lifetime as it is a Disney owned channel.
I can not say what the other resorts have done, but at the Contemporary the Lifetime channel has become CNBC and the Lifetime Movie Network has become MSNBC. However when clicking on those channels they still have the Lifetime logo on the screen and they already had CNBC and MSNBC on channels 38 and 39, so they have them listed twice on the TV.

I returned a few weeks ago...POFQ and AKL did NOT have this channel that I (ok DD3.5) missed so much:(

We loved it in May at BCV...so much in fact when I got home I found the VHS of Sing ALongs on Amazon..(We still have a tv DVD/VHS combo..lol)..and when I hear those songs..takes me back to that trip with my daughters!
I cant leave our hotel lobby without DD stopping and checking out the kids TV area...hoping channel 96 comes back to all resorts:)

We were just at AKL a couple of weeks ago and could not find the channel. I wound up sitting in the lobby with the kids several times while they watched cartoons. Each night as I went to fill up my mug at The Mara I saw lots of kids in their pj's sitting in front of the TV watching the old cartoons too!

:sad1: WHY DISNEY WHYYYYYY!!!!! :sad1:

I really enjoyed that channel... it was just one more way to take me back to childhood... I'm so bummed!!! :sad2:
