Just found out we are going to another party on Sunday!!!! Oh why did they invite me?????? I am not sure I can make it through all of the finger food that is going to be carb laden. I know there is going to be an antipasta tray there because I ordered it...but there is also going to be Chocolate Matini's and fresh fruit and cookies and well the list goes on and on. I am hoping someone will just say "Go ahead and eat...it is Holiday time." But of course I know better. Besdies, I will just be starting week two of induction on Sunday, and so far I am losing a pound a day. Thanks for letting me vent!!! And thanks for all of your support!! It means a lot to me!!!

Hi Liz,

Sorry, I'm not going to say "go ahead and eat . . . it's Holiday time." What I keep telling myself is that eating this way for 36 years is what got to me to my initial all time high weight of 282.5 pounds. I've lost 15 since I started South Beach and it's my determination not to cheat. Everyone is different though. If you feel you can have treats and just start induction over again and you'll be alright then go right ahead. We will all still be here with support and encouragement - no judgments at all!

I read something on another board and they were talking about those that were allowing themselves to cheat because of the holidays, vacations, lunar eclipses and arbor day (you get the picture) and someone said that it's a lot easier to stay on the wagon than it is to fall off and then get back on again. I make that one of my mantras.

Whatever you decide, it's going to be okay. Vent here anytime you like! I'm sure one of these old days I'll be doing the same thing after I finish tackling someone with a donut at work! Take care.

Ack...another party!!! You can do it, Liz, be strong!!!

Why did they invite you??? Well who wouldn't, if you are half as fun in person as you are on the boards and in PM's then they should feel lucky if you come. ;)

I know the temptations are out there and they are beckoning all of us during this holiday period. Go to the party, have a good time and do your best to make the best possible food choices you can make. You control what goes into your mouth and if you try your best than that is all anyone can ask.

Hi Liz,
I know you can be strong. To avoid the temptations, eat before you go to the party and just nibble while there on some cheese or something low carb (veggies?).

Spend a lot of time socializing and avoid the food tables if possible. Try to drink a lot of water.

You have been given some great advice already. My suggestion was also going to be to not go hungry. Eat what you need to before hand so that you are in control once you get there. Keep water in your hand and stay as far away from the food tables as possible.

You can do this and survive the temptations. This time of year is difficult on us all, but we have to remember that we have to learn to deal with these situations because it is a lifestyle change we are making.

Keep the faith!!!:D

You can do this, Liz. Eat before the party and then make the best choices you can but don't obsess. Try to have some fun, okay? There's more fun to a party than the food, you know ;)

It really will be a lot of fun, and I definately will be eating before I go. Some person we all know and love sent me some GREAT parmeasan cheese....from Italy, and I am thinking of bringing my own special stash of something special.....and legal. I also explained to Greg's boss (the hostess of the party) that I will not be eating much of what is being served and please don't be offended. At first she was very offended, but she knows and tries to understand my struggle with my weight and was very understanding. So that was a good thing. There will still be plenty of yummy, legal things to eat. In the event that the temptation becomes too strong...I will have a low carb candy bar in my purse even though I am on induction if it gets too bad!!! Thanks again!!!!!

I know exactly how you feel, I had the same problem a few days ago. I went to one party where everything was a no no for me and needless to say I was bad.
But I took the advice from everyone here before I went to my next party, I ate a late lunch and I was not hungry when I went to the party. I was able to nibble on the low or non carb foods and left feeling very good with myself.
My goal is to continue losing during the holidays, I have lost nearly 40 lbs all together and still have a way to go. I do not want to back slid over the holidays!
GOOD LUCK!

These are great words to live by when attending a party!! Nice comment Kath! :)

Try to have fun and relax...if you stress over eating something you shouldn't, you won't have any fun! We will all be here for you when you come home and you can tell us all about the party! :) Good Luck! :)
