Okay I'm set to pack, leave next friday!!! I have trial run on packing an outfit with socks, hair things, stuck it in the ziploc bag, rolled it so that all the air was out...curious as to what is the purpose of this? I can still roll it all together just by putting the hair thing and socks on the top of the outfit and roll it. Just don't understand why everything should be in a bag, then I'm transporting about 50 bags, 4 kids, 9 days on vacation, and then have to bring them back home. The 2.5 zips are big enough to hold the beachtowels, which would be fine if they aren't quiet dry when we need to leave, but I usually designate one bag for the dirty laundry, using the snack suitcase to be that dirty laundry bag. Call me goofy, but I don't see how zipping the clothes in ziploc makes me have more room? I figure just rolling them up will do the trick. Opinions on this???

I do like the tip on packing all the little peoples stuff randomly in different suitcases in case a bag gets lost and we don't have anything.

I just know H will freak out when he sees that everything is in a bag..LOL

I could be wrong, but I think the point of the bags is so you don't have to search for an outfit. everything is together and easily accessible. This saves time. If you don't have them in bags, someone could go rooting through the suitcase and disrupt the organization of just rolled up outfits which then would cause you to take more time to find your outfit for the day.

Like I said, I could be wrong, but I think that is the reason for the bags. I never have used bags before...and I waste time each day after my DH goes into the suitcase! :rotfl2:

Have a Great Trip!!!

Well if that is the sole purpose, I guess it's a toss up between using them or not....as they know that if they get into the suitcases before me, they are in BIG trouble! LOL

Rule is mom unpacks as I am the only one that knows what is where and what drawers are whose..LOL

Maybe I will just do 6 and 4's clothes in bags so that they can help in getting ready for the day...and then not as many bags to shuffle through. H might need some as we are leaving him at his location and driving to WDW without him and he might not have a clue as to what is supposed to go with what...:lmao:

The mom job never ends on vacation!

Yes the bags are so that when you are running late from your Night time EMH trying to get to the next AM EMH or ADR you can just throw the bag at the kiddos and say everything in this bag needs to be on you no questions asked.

Well, we don't get to experience the AM/PM EMH, not doing any ADRs, staying off site. So I'm guessing just giving the little ones bagged clothes will make my morning a bit easier as they seem to love to continue to get up at the crack of dawn on vacation!! but hey, it's Disney, no one sleeps in!!

I am just doing this for the kids. Each bag will be clearly labeled with the day and what park we are visiting. That away they can take the bag get dressed and not ask me 15 million times what they are supposed to be wearing. Or worse yet as my children tend to do come out wearing strips and polka dots thinking they are gonna be seen with me looking like a clown :lmao: :lmao:

Great it's settled. Bagged clothes for the kids, just rolled clothes for H and me. "bringing wrinkle guard" love it!

Well I actually don't organize my bags by outfit. We only have one child so it's not like I've got several LO's to think about so it's just not a big deal for us. I do think the ziplocs keep things more organized in the suitcase though and in case TSA decides to search the bag for some reason (which has happened from time to time - usually in the bag with all the peripheral electrical cords for the camera/laptop/camcorder -lol) Anyway, I like the idea they can take a look at things and nothing little will fall out, they're not touching my clean underwear (eww) you get the idea, I'm sure. Also once our suitcases fell out of the thing carrying them from airplane to baggage claim during a rain storm, and everyones stuff got soaked. One of our bags actually came open and a bunch of stuff got wet - so if we had them in plastic bags, that would have helped.

The bags seem like a good idea. I never thought about the TSA search through our unmentionables. Sounds creepy. I will definately be using the bag idea just for that.

we bagged all the kids outfits and LOVED the simplicity of it all. it also elimated a lot of hassle w/ the 3 year old DIVA!!! AND it was easy to keep the kids in coordinating outfits that way...we packed those together.
another tip ... we took a over the door shoe organizer ... the kind w/ clear pockets that is super cheap at discount stores and hung it on the bathroom door and desinated pockets for sunscreen, toothbrushes, hairspray, barrettes, bandaids, medicines up high, etc ...it was great to have the counter clear and also to see where everything was...

I always pack with the ziploc bag method. The biggest reason is that the kids can just pick any bag and everything is together and MATCHES!!! This saves a lot of hassle for me getting everyone ready and out the door to be at the park opening.

TSA did go through our bags one year but they didn't open any of the bags. I think it probably made their job easier since they could see everything in the suitcase through the bags.

Even DH now tells people about my method. No more looking for hair accessories or matching socks each morning. THat was the best tip I ever got from the boards.

Started packing yesterday, the bag idea is the best! Works so great for 6 and 4 stuff. 6 DD has hair things to match her outfit, socks and underwear all stays in one place. Everyone has a bag of personal toiletries so that no one fights over who's is who's, plus makes the little ones feel important that they have their "own" stuff. Packing the beach towels into the 2.5 gallon bags so if they happen to be damp when we leave that they won't get everything soaked...

I laid out the suitcases...I have 6 out! Hoping to make it down to 5, plus each kid and myself will have a carry on....Holy Heffalumps Pooh Bear, there is so much to take!!!
