Another onboard booking question

so I’ve researched and discovered you can not use your onboard cash account to book a placeholder I understand in case we cancel there is no where to refund the money. Could I use my visa debit card and put $250 onto my onboard account now and use it? Pay cash for my other expenses? Or will I need to use my visa debit to make the placeholder purchase and charge my account at the time of booking? Just trying to get all major expenses prepaid

When I booked onboard, I was required to give a credit or debit card number. I was not allowed to use my onboard account.

It is possible you could use a check for the onboard booking, in which case you can set aside the money in your checking account in advance, the same as using a debit card. I always use my Disney Visa, so I am not sure what other payment forms are available. I do agree that onboard accounts can’t be used for future bookings.

If you want to use money from your onboard account to make the obb, then you need to deposit money into your onboard account. Go to one of the stores on the ship once they are open and purchase a gift card. Take the gift card to the OBB desk and make your reservation. Note that if you ever cancel the OBB, you will to have the gift card to use the money for something else. Remember, once you buy the gift card, Disney has your money.

Thanks for info, sounds like I’ll have to set the money aside and be prepared to charge it. I had read about others doing the gift card idea but yes if I cancel I could be out the money.

Not that you would be out the money, you would have Disney credit that needs to be used.
