Another NYC thread, please take a look for me.

Anybody know how much Newsies might be on TKTS? I did download app and it isn't listed today. With the Broeadwaybox coupon code, I can get seats for 89 now. If I can't get cheaper tickets through TKTS, I'll just purchase now to have it out of the way and skip waiting in line.

Dont know the price for Newsies, but when are you going? Watch the app for a few days. if it's not listed for a few days in a row, not likely they will be offered any time in the near future.

EDIT -- Actually, I just looked at my app. It does show how often specific tickets are offered. For Newsies it says "frequently." (It's Wicked that I think is never offered). But, being vacation, if your heart is set on a specific show, and time is precious, you might be better off buying with a code, just to be safe.......

HTH --

When we were there the tickets at the booth were listed between 20-30% off but they didn't have any of the cheaper seats available.

They also do a lottery in front of the box office daily if you want to spend time standing in that line for a chance to buy rush tickets... google rush tickets newsies for a how to.

Oh 18 & 15 are great ages to tour the city with. Lots of energy and desire to actually be there!

I see why you want to see shows so much now!

In that case though, consider seeing GMA or other morning shows... without the kids and letting them sleep in (if they want of course!) a little time away might be a great idea for a weekish long vacation :)

Are they interested in art? I love the MoMA (and the Met of course) and the Museum of the Moving Image (it's in Astoria, Queens, but not that far from Times Square) is pretty amazing. I used to live 2 blocks from it so I can also recommend places to eat, and other Astoria locations if you like (Socrates Sculpture Park is nice, and Astoria Park has a pool the size of 2 Olympic pools!)

Also if you like the idea of media museums but don't want to venture out to Queens try the Paley Center.

I get positively giddy when people visit NY! I hope you have a great trip!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Thank you. The MoMa looks wonderful, I would love to see it if we can fit it in our schedule.
I see that Peter and the Starcatcher sometimes has Rush tickets for the day of the show. I'm not sure if that is a lottery or if they just have them available when the theater opens. They are around 25. Anybody know if I were to go to the theater early that morning, would I be able to get those tickets? Would they even be cheaper with TKTS? Newsies is our first choice and it is a lottery for Rush tickets and I can only buy 2 if chosen. We will probably buy those tickets either with TKTS or at the theater using the BroadwayBox coupon.
Thanks again for your help.

Just FYI - I did the Staten Island Ferry a couple of weeks ago (local-ish but I'd never done it and saw it recommended here so often). Unless you're the first ones off the ferrry and RUN, it's likely you'll have to wait a half hour for the next ferry.

The waiting rooms are surprisingly nice and in theory they are for travelers ONLY (so they try to keep the homeless out of the ferry loading areas).

MOMA is pretty cool. If you go to the Met, remember the price is a "suggested donation." Feel free to pay as much as you want (generally I've seen people do between 5 and 10 per person). Also, I've often had luck buying discounted tickets online that day so if you have a smart phone it's worth checking into even while waiting in line (which is what has happened to me a few times).
