Remember the thread a few weeks back about the neighbors who had plastic flowers in their landscaping? Well, we came home one day over the weekend and our across the street neighbor was painting all the rocks that serve as a border in his landscaping....not natural colors, mind you, but yellow, lavender and peach! His wife was out telling everyone who would listen that it was totally his idea and that she had nothing to do with it. What would possess a 40 year old man to paint a bunch of outdoor rocks in pastel colors???

We have seen a few people in our town paint rocks to match their house color. An old couple down the street have yellow and green ones. The plastic flower thing is really popular in our hometown (Ocala, FL).

My next door neighbor painted some gold! He's building a rock wall and said he's going to paint them green and white, we're trying to gently guide him away from doing so. ;)

In the neighborhood that I grew up in, one of the neighbors took out all the grass, and sectioned off different areas of the front yard with RR ties. Then they filled in each area with different colored rocks. I guess it's nice not to have to cut the grass, but this neighborhood is one of those suburban "cookie cutter" neighborhoods where every third house is the same. It really looks awful, but there are no covenants in the neighborhood, so they can do what they want. Gosh, what could you do besides move???

OMG!!! One of the neighbors that lives behind our house did that to his backyard (actually he paid a company to do it). He has lava and black rocks all over the backyard, it looks really weird. I'm sure that city code doesn't allow it, but since it can't be seen from the street he is probably safe. The funny thing is that the other day he had his sprinklers on and the rocks were getting watered!:teeth: :teeth:

I saw things like that when I lived in NM but not in Texas, especially North Texas (Dallas area).
Do I remember correctly that you live in a subdivision w/ a HOA?
