My 11yo son has had some major challenges in PE at school. Because of his size the coach would give him modified ways to do certain exercises. For instance, he couldn't do a squat thrust so he was allowed to do one on an elevated surface.... :(

Well, today he told me he told the coach he could do them! I asked him to show me. With that he dropped to the living room floor and did TWENTY in minutes without getting winded!!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

When he finished he gave me a glowing smile that told me even HE was proud of what he did. All I could do was hug him...

He is also training for a mile run at the school. He told me he is up to 20 laps a day when he used to be sort of able to get thru 3! This afternoon I saw him running alongside a friend on a bike forEVER!

All this in just 2 months! The difference in him is amazing! I just thought I'd share. :teeth:

I can just hear the pride in your voice. Congratulations to Michael for his committment to better health - and congratulations to his mom for supporting him in his committment. You both have much to be proud of!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:  :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'm just so proud of our Michael. He is doing so well with his new and healthy lifestyle!

WOW! That is wonderful!!

Congratulations Michael!!!

Woo Hoo!!! You go, Michael!!! That is CERTAINLY something to be VERY proud of. ::yes::

awesome
he must feel great that all his hard work is paying off

That's incredible!!! Good for him, and good for you! I can tell how proud you are, and rightfully so!

Wow, I thought I posted this on WISH! Everyone over there knows our story already.

Michael and I have made a major decision to change our lifestyles in January. I'd taken him to several doctors and none of them could figure out why he was so big. He ate normally, like any other kid, but he gained 25 pounds in 2001 and 25 more in 2002!

At a loss I decided to try low carb. I read everything I could and modified it to adjust to a child's taste. In a short time the change was so obvious to everyone. His energy level went through the roof. He enjoyed life more and people around him noticed. His teachers congratulated him daily and his coach is amazed.

Most of all, HE feels good about himself.

2 months later, 25 pounds gone and I have a new kid! He was always a happy, good boy but now he feels so much better about himself!

Thank God for WISH, nativetxn, LisaTX and all of my friends that keep us motivated and on track!

YAY for Michael and you for all your encouragement!

Awww, Robin. Michael deserves all the credit for his progress (you share the credit too). He's doing so well

I hope you post this on WISH, too

That is great, Robin. And Michael (I know you look over mom's shoulder :)), that is really super!!!!! :bounce: Very proud of you, and mom too.

And so nice spending a little time with you both, albeit too short a time, when I was visiting Atlanta a few weeks ago.

Keep up the good work, stay healthy.

congratulations to your son, but I never had any desire to squat in my life, tell him he has nothing to prove

I'm so proud for Michael and you!:D And I must echo the conCATulations of catsrule!:teeth: :wave2:
