Another MAGICal Adventure - WBTA 2015

Greetings all, although this will be our 8th Disney Cruise, it'll be our 1st TA. We're looking forward to celebrating our 30th Anniversary on the cruise, and now that we've got the mandatory 10 posts in, I'll send PFlamingo a PM to sign us up for the FE!

It is mainly the fun beforehand I guess, and the fact that you can buy/make Disney stuff

We are on this cruise too. I haven't been on this thread for awhile but wanted to say hi. :) There are 8 of us. 2 adults and 6 kids ranging from 3 to 17. I can't believe this cruise is just in a little over 2 months. :) Yay! We are getting excited too. We are playing FE and always have fun playing that. We have cruised Disney before, but never a transatlantic. We look forward to meeting everyone on the ship. Vicki

**********UPDATE 2015 WBTA Lanyard Pin Status*******

As of today, we only have 5 unpaid pins, 2 for Joy Browning and 3 for Gina, Bruce and Cindy McCroy. Thank you to everyone who paid for their orders in a timely fashion. By the end of today, I am going to close the pin orders since I need to pay Connie so she is able to order the pins in time for the cruise. I will have a few extra pins on board for those who did not order but once those are gone, NO more are available.

A couple of important items to note:

You will be REQUIRED to confirm your participation in this FE via e-mail after the list is closed! Failure to confirm will result in removal from the list. CLOSING DATE for the list is AUGUST 8, 2015. No more signups will be permitted after that time, however, we will do our best to make a reasonable accommodation for late-comers.

Depending on how many cabins we have participating, we may split the list into smaller groups. If we do so, each group will consist of approximately 18-20 cabins. If you would like to participate in more than one group, please indicate that at the bottom of the form. You can always change your mind (add or subtract) prior to the closing date.

:santa: Secret Mickey Gift Exchange :santa:


This exchange is a bit different from the fish extender exchange, but works along the same way as a Secret Santa exchange. Each participating stateroom will be matched with another stateroom, and should buy a gift for that cabin with a total cost of no less than $20 but no more than $25 (approx GB£16, Aus$25, Can$25). The gifts can be one per cabin, or individual gifts for each person.

You can leave the gift in that cabin's fish extender if they have one, or you can ask their stateroom host to put it in the room. Alternatively you can leave the gift with guest services and ask for it to be delivered to your recipient. You should attach a note to the gift that says its a gift from their Secret Mickey, but don't reveal who you are. The reveal will occur at lunch in Lumiere's on the 27th September, which is the next-to-last sea day. Participation at lunch is optional, but please do not "spill the beans" to your recipient til after that.

If you would like to join in the Secret Mickey exchange, I will need names of everyone in the room who is participating, ages of children, and your room number (if known). Please also include some ideas of your favourite characters/hobbies/interests, etc. Please also include any allergies or severe dislikes for anyone in your party, where applicable.

Cut off date for joining the secret mickey exchange will be early August 2015. PMs will then be sent out with details of your recipient.

Recipe Exchange


Choose a favorite recipe to swap. Ideally it will be a local specialty, but any favorite of yours is fine. Make one copy for each member of the group and distribute them to state rooms sometime during the cruise. It can be as simple as a recipe on a postcard, as some like to give postcards of their local area. One recipe will be fine, but you are welcome to share more. Any questions, PM me here. Thanks!

You'll need to have 10 posts here so that you can PM (private message) your info to me to sign up. I prefer to get that via pm instead of having it on the public board. You can post questions you might have or just post "this is #2," "this is #3," til you get to 10. We've all been there, so it's not a problem. ::yes::

#6 with a question: who is going to WDW after this cruise?
I am thinking car rental, but does anyone know what places are conveniently located near the port in Miami? Any other tips are welcome too!

Our family of 6 is going to WDW after the cruise. I spent quite a bit of time looking into our options: car rentals, shuttles (including Disney Cruise Line transport), private transport, etc. With a group of our size plus luggage, we found the most reasonable option to be an SUV rental through Avis. We're picking up at the Downtown Miami location (99 Southeast 2nd Street, 33131) and dropping off at the Hilton Hotel at Disney World (1751 Hotel Plaza Blvd, 32830). It's about $175 with unlimited mileage. For shuttle transport including DCL, it was anywhere between $30-40 per person, and, with small children, we thought we'd be in for it without potty breaks and such for a 4-hour haul. Plus, this way, we get to stop at Kennedy Space Center on our way up and stop at our leisure.
 
Could someone fill me in on what a wave phone is? I read somewhere that each stateroom has two of these. Not sure what they are.

They're like cordless phones that work only on the ship and Castaway Cay. They were new the last time we cruised, so I don't know what features they may have added. I know you could program a voicemail message and some numbers you would use frequently, like if your kids are in one room and you're in another, you can program their number into your speed dial (or something like that; it was a long time ago). They don't work off the ship, except on CC, but they're convenient for keeping in touch if you are going to different areas of the ship for the day. I think the kids clubs use them to get in touch with parents, if needed.
