I doubt you'll be bored, most cruises have multiple activities going all the time. If I'm not mistaken, you occasionally enjoy a rum cocktail...they have lots of those. Is there a casino on-board? Besides, you're supposed to look out on the water, sip a drink and think "This ROCKS!"

The drinks are probably $12 a piece, and they are probably not that big and not that strong. That works out to about 13-14 drinks per day, but those aren't going to be full size bar drinks like at home. I think the key is: Start early & Pace yourself.

There, there jevsie, I agree it sounds horrible - blue water, sunshine, copious food and drink, non-stop activities and entertainment, deck boys to serve your every whim - but you are a TROOPER and I think you can do this thing!!

I'm probably guilty of bragplaining about the stupid cruise I booked.

Im going to change the family holiday rules, no longer will it be that everyone gets a choice. It's now mummy rules. End of.

We went to the Mexican Riviera on Celebrity several years ago. It was a nice cruise. To combat boredom, go to Cruise Critic & sign up for the roll call. There should be plenty of people to get to know & hang out with. There have been singles on our roll call on all our cruises.

A question for you Netts - Micca and Tarheelfan as well. If I buy the internet package thing can I use it on my devices where I want (i.e. in bed or a bar, two places I suspect I'm going to spend most of my time) or do I have to go to some smelly internet cafe room on the oversized flashy canoe?

I need internet as I would hate DIS to miss out on my wisdom, and kind, caring nature for 7 days. Also, if I have to suffer through this ordeal I want the ALDIO cohort to suffer along with me. It's only fair.

Over a dozen cruises later, over never purchased even one minute of Internet time so I can't exactly speak authoritatively as to whether all cruise lines have wifi. I do know RCCL has recently been hyping something called Voom and it's definitely wireless; the competitors likely have something similar but most of the per-minute access sold has previously been for access through the connections in the Internet cafes. Did you say which ship you're sailing? I could google it for you!

Jo, the thing I disliked the most of our one and only cruise were the "sea legs" I experienced for the next four days after the cruise. It was the weirdest thing!!

I didn't really care for the days at sea either. It was too windy and believe it or not rather chilly but it was in March on the Gulf.

Drinks and the little casino were lots of fun tho and so was Senior Frogs at Cozumel.

Jo I'm pretty sure the Wifi will work on your devices anywhere on the ship, I don't know if internet cafes are a thing any more on cruise ships. What you'll want to watch out for will be any international charges on your phone during shore excursions.

. Yep. It's 7 days. I'm finding it difficult to work out if it's worth it getting the drinks package as the package is in AUD and all the drink evaluation spreadsheets I've found are on USD. 'tho I,m thinking of just gifting myself the amount in onboard credit and seeing what happens.

The soda package is definitely not worth it for my kids, they rarely have soda and on holiday the limit is one and sometimes two a day, and that's a big maybe.

Here's a Hurricane Katrina tidbit for what it's worth..........In March '05 we took our cruise on Carnival Sensation, which is the same boat they brought in to NOLA to help victims of the hurricane 5 months later.

Quite to the contrary jevsie - it looks lovely. And there are 18 lifeboats for the 4,500 or so of you - your odds are (probably) moderate or better of surviving a catastrophe, maybe even higher if you go all "every man for himself" up on your kids.

Here's my little cruise trivia tidbit: Our first cruise was around 1989. This was pre-DCL, but at the time, Disney partnered with Premier cruise line as the "Official Cruise Line of WDW." The branding for the line was "The Big Red Boat", and they had Disney characters on-board. From what I can tell, Disney got a whiff of some major profits, and decided to launch their own line. Premier didn't last long after Disney severed ties with them a couple of years before DCL came to fruition. When I tell people about Premier most folks don't even remember it, but it was promoted heavily during its heyday.

Sorry, I'm not much help. We also don't access the internet on-board. I'm pretty sure most of the cruiselines have WiFi now though. I'll go over to CC in a little while & poke around on the Princess board to see if I can find an accurate answer for you.

I am TERRIBLE at this activity, so I am a repeat offender of GIFT CRACK: The gap in wrapping paper or uncovered portion of a gift usually found on the bottom of the box. May result from the gift wrapper running out of paper or cutting gift wrap too small to cover the entire package.

In a sentence: Bryan figured out that his present was the Lego Disney castle because the GIFT CRACK exposed the picture on the box.
