I used to watch Alaska State Troopers every now and then and that was one thing that really stuck out. The police care and don't care about certain things. It was sorta talked about that people tend to relocate to Alaska or choose to stay in Alaska to be left alone lol.Our tour guide reminded us continuously that most people just live however they wish, there's "nobody there and nobody cares."
I think that's right about people who sort of want to do their own thing. The people we met were all super nice, but of course we were tourists not straying far from the typical tourist spots.I used to watch Alaska State Troopers every now and then and that was one thing that really stuck out. Agree - best wishes from me also! I didn’t make it through the “4th of July Plans” thread but I hope it’s an enjoyable day for all. I presume it’s a day off work?Just thought I'd pop in, and wish some Aldios a Happy 4th of July!
Our bathroom reno has been delayed yet again... sigh. Our GP of 30+ years announced his retirement. That leaves us with finding a new one. Some of his patients are being assigned to other Drs in the clinic, but they are all male, and I thought the next chapters in my life I'd like a female. There is a shortage of physicians in our area so my search may be futile.
His retirement has also left me profoundly melancholy. When we located here 30+ years ago we were one of his first family of patients. The physician before him was from my childhood, and when he retired I was a young mom so... being so very busy I guess there wasn't time to 'think' about leaving him. Also, WE had to find a new physician since we ourselves were relocating.
Thanks for being here for me... sigh.

the first Roadblock was a challenge called "Save a Beaver"
Happy 4th, all! We had our fireworks celebration last night. Just relaxing today. It's so very hot.
Sending a hug to cheer you up, Jane. I, too, prefer a female GP but have found it hard to find one I like within my insurance network. I had an excellent one for a few years but she moved. I think she ruined me for anyone else because I have yet to find one who can fill her place. I have had okay luck with a couple of NPs but both are male so still not quite as comfortable with them as I wish, though infinitely better at interacting with patients than the male physicians I've encountered. Not so cocky, much more empathetic, and they spend more time in the exam room with you. Does Canada have nurse practitioners?
Rest easy, @Micca and @Twilight Sparkle - (most of) the beavers ended up saved!! These pictures don't really do it justice but the contestants had to zipline off the side of a mountain and land on that mesh net suspended over the gorge. Then they had to bunjee jump off the net and lunge out to grab a stuffed beaver dangling off one of those cables before plunging down towards the river below. This all happened in Squamish, BC - about 50 miles north of Vancouver.Well don't leave us hanging...I'm worried about the beaver!
