Another LONG Wait For Luggage at BDL!

We flew home from Tampa last night on Song. Very nice flight and the DISH TV was good. We were actually at the gate 18 minutes before our scheduled arrival time.

We got to baggage claim in the "new and improved" terminal around 10:10 p.m. The belt broke down several times while two flights waited for luggage on the same belt. It took 45 minutes just to get our luggage (boarded the Piccolo Shuttle at 10:55 p.m.).

I guess this is better than the old terminal's baggage claim, but this is still not world class (well maybe 3rd world!) service.

there are good things and bad things about arriving early. The good is you do arrive early, the bad is the fact that the baggage handlers are not assigned to be at that plane to take the baggage off until the scheduled arrival time. Arriving early can sometimes be a hassle in that there is another plane parked at your scheduled gate and you are just sitting there yards from the door with no where to go.

If you figure you were 20 min early it really only took 30 min to get all the luggage off and if the belt hadn't been broken you would have received it much earlier.

Be thankful that your luggage actually arrived on your flight. You could have been schlepping back to the airport to pick up delayed luggage.

45 mins. at some airports is considered fast.

We had the same problem this weekend with Delta. After finally getting out bags (45 minutes) we met the car service. We were told by our driver that 40-45 min has become normal for Delta at Logan. At least we got our bags...

PS Someone at the airport told me that Delta stands for Don't Expect Luggage to Arrive!
