I will be leaving for WDW in about 30 days. My question is, is it be worth buying a couple lanyards on Ebay or should I wait to get to WDW. Is thier more of a selection at WDW? or does Ebay carry the same things? About how much does a nice character one cost at WDW and how easy will it be to find one? Do most of the stores and parks at WDW carry them? I do not want to spend all morning tring to buy one.

Thanks.

There are lanyards for sale everywhere you turn in Disney. Ebay has a good selection and you may find ones that are no longer sold at Disney or ones that were Disney Auction exclusives. Some Disney stores sell starter lanyard sets that have the lanyard and a few starter pins (usually two of each pin-one to keep and one to trade). I think that just about every store (or so it seems) in Disney sells the lanyards in some variety or another. There are also plenty of kiosks selling the pins and lanyards and even at DTD. Its been a while since I bought a lanyard at the Disney parks, but I believe we never paid more than $10 for one.

I'm not sure if you're staying on property or not, but if you are, you can usually buy them right in the resort gift shop..... I believe they even have them at the Disney merchandise store at the Orlando airport too.....

Then of course in the parks and at DTD, they are in nearly every store you enter.... they are not very $$$ and would probably be less than what you'd pay on ebay esp. after some of the shipping charges some sellers request :rotfl:

Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

I have a question along these lines (hope it's okay to post here, I certainly don't mean to hijack!):

What about the personalized name tags? My parents got my dd#1 a lanyard and a tag (not sure if there's an 'official' term?) with her name engraved a few years ago. I'd like to have one for dd#2 as well.

Also, should I look into any trading pin sets from eBay or the like? I've heard of planning on some less expensive pins to have on hand to trade . . ..

TIA!!!

My advice...wait until you get there. :thumbsup2
Trading pins are everywhere!

They have plenty of ones that cost about $6.95.

We are staying at ALK. The first day on our vacation we are not going to any parks, the plan is to unpack and eat. I have 2 little kids and 2 teenages, from reading the other posts i shouldn't have any problems finding character lanyards at the resort. If im wrong please correct me.

THanks for your advice

Nope, you won't have any problems finding the lanyards at the resort shops. Some folks like the buy off Ebay because if they buy in bulk from one or two sellers, it may be cheaper, but if you buy one here and one there...like PP said, by the time s/h fees add up, you haven't saved a thing. I think the pins start at $6.50 and go up from there at Disney, so you can get as pricey or as cheap as you want.

We got ours on Ebay...for $5 each. Bought from the same seller, with combined shipping. Great selection, great prices. Check it out! Visit seller's Store:do a seller/store search for LNS DISNEY CONNECTION PLUS. Seller ID is disneyconnectionplus

we bought 3 lanyards $15 and paid 3 bucks for shipping. That's cheaper than $6.95 plus tax!!!!

I got lanyards from an online store. It was www.goodypak.com. They have a few of them I think. The one that I got is blue and has a bunch of the Mickey characters on it.

But the best part about the lanyard that I got was that there was a plastic pocket on the clip. The lanyard is for my DD, so I want to use the pocket to put her ID information in it just in case she were to get lost.

I think they were less than $5 each.

OP: Which type of lanyard are you referring to? The ones for pins or the ones for ID (pouch for park tickets, room card, fast passes, etc.)??

We aren't into pin trading (go easy on me!) but we each have a cast member exclusive ID lanyard. Mine is Eeyore of course!! Can't get the cast member ones anywhere except from a cast member or thru purchase somewhere privately such as Ebay.

The pin ones are everywhere at WDW.

Perhaps you will be lucky and get a Year Of A Million Dreams lanyard with pins! :) We weren't planning on doing pin trading during our first trip in March (we just felt since it was our first time, we already had a lot on our plates and didn't want to feel overwhelmed), but we were lucky enough to be in line at the right time and got free YOAMD lanyards. That was pretty cool.

I guess i wasn't clear with my original question. I don't think i will get into the pin trading. I am looking for lanyards to hold IDs, room keys and fast passes. How easy will it be to find one of these? if the lanyard comes with a pin thats fine by me.

Not all lanyards have the clear plastic ziplock style pouch on them, but a lot do. They run about the same price whether they have it on them or not. I think they are still pretty widely found no matter where the lanyards are sold in Disney.

The plain lanyards at WDW are $5. The type with the plastic pouch on the end are $10. They have large selection of colors available. I'd wait and pick one up at Pin Traders when you get there.

I don't think my kids would want a plain one, they would be more interested in a character one.

I normally get our pins on EBay, with shipping I average $2-$2.50 per pin, and trade them for cast exlusives, limited editions, hidden mickeys, etc. The Character Premier outlet stores also have them sometimes too, last week I got 2 Buxx lanyards and 2 Pooh lanyards, 4 pins each, for $6.9 each. Less than $2 per pin and a lanyard included, can't beat that IMO.
