Another HUNDRED DAYS!

Hi, everyone! So glad to hear that you are all doing so well! As I expected, I am in a position where I cannot say that any of the last 5 days were cheat-free. On Thursday, I did well with a lean cuisine pizza for dinner instead of the pizza I ordered for the prom goers. Then, I went to DS's boy scout court of honor and end of year picnic and did pretty well with food choice (even though I ate krimpets instead of a cheeseburger or hot dog!). But then I worked on after prom until after midnight and was back at the school at 3 am to clean up, and I did eat some pizza and some pretzels. Decided that since that happened after midnight, I'd count the points toward Friday, so that Thursday could count as cheat free.

Friday wasn't too bad until we went on a dinner cruise and I ate smart choices, but too much. Saturday was a lot of running around and culminated in dinner at our favorite nice restaurant with my in-law's and DD's friend who came in from Texas on Friday. We didn't eat dessert at the restaurant but celebrated DFIL's birthday with cake and pie when we got home. UGH!! Sunday was graduation and wayyyy too much food at my house afterwards. Yesterday all I had was a bagel with cheese and by the time we got to dinner I was starving. We ordered nachos and an appetizer sampler for the table and I didn't order anything else. I stuck with water and didn't eat when I got home last night. So, yesterday was probably within points, but I am going to write off Friday-Monday. Bummer. So, I am at 18 days as of 6/1 and am on track again starting today. Of course, it helps that I have no appetite at all and haven't wanted breakfast or lunch. I am planning on tomorrow being 20% for me.

Sorry, guys. Hope I haven't let you down. I will get everyone else updated. I am so proud of all of you. Looking forward to following your examples and getting firmly back on track!

Oh, and here are a couple pix from DD17's prom and graduation:

The medallions around her neck are academic achievement awards. :thumbsup2

BTW, all my efforts to update have been thwarted by "server too busy" messages. Are you guys as frustrated as I have been? :confused3

Cam - You must be one very proud mom right now :goodvibes. Your DD is gorgeous and must be so smart also. My DS also did the cub scout deal so I know how those honor banquets can be. You did a great job for all the things you had going on lately.

As for me well I started back on plan yesterday. I went to the store and tried to set myself up for success at work at least and it has worked. I did very well yesterday and I am on plan so far today.

I'm less than 5 weeks to WDW so I am going to try to be cheat free until then :Pinkbounc

Thanks, Minnie! Yes, I am very proud of her! Good job on getting back on track. That is the BEST we can do, right?!! :cheer2: So, how many days do you have under your belt? Let's update your number! :thumbsup2

Well, guys, I did okay yesterday, mostly because I did not feel like eating at all. I must confess that what I ate was not WW picture perfect, though. :(

B: coffee w/sugar free creamer (.5)
L (at 4:30): tomato cup of soup (2); 3 slices wasa rye crisp (1); 1 wedge laughing cow lite cheese spread (1)
D: 1/2 bagel (3); 1 sl light turkey (1); 1.5 servings pretzel crisps (3); 1 serving fat free chips (1)
dessert: leftover graduation cake with no frosting (6)

Not pretty, huh? Back on track today, assuming the professional conference I am going to has some food choices I can live with. I am sure dinner will be chicken-something. Let's hope there are good veggies.

Oh, I am at done day 19. :cool1:

How is everyone else doing?

Well, day 16 was good. I was thinking of trying CORE next week and seeing if that is any easier. I think with summer coming, it is getting harder...I LOVE ice cream in the summer. So I really think I will try core and see how that goes...I am tired of the .2-1lb losses...

CAM- your daughter is beautiful. You must be so proud!!! CONGRATS to her. I think I may sign up for the full marathon instead of the half...Was the MINNIE your first marathon??? Are you nervous about doing the full??? Help me convince myself that I can do it PLEASE!!! :rotfl2:

Cam - My number isn't pretty since I had the pitty party when I got hurt. I am 15/21 (-6) because of that.

I managed another good night so I am 2/2 since restarting :)

Thanks, Michele! Congrats on getting through day 16. Okay, I have a question. Isn't ice cream NOT on core? I think in your shoes, I'd have to stick to flex so that I could allow myself ice cream if I count the points. I wonder if forbidding myself to have it (on core) would make it all the more a temptation and completely throw me off. I have to admit, though, that I HAVE considered core many times, but have been too lazy to educate myself on it enough to start.

As for the full marathon, here is my take. And I hope you don't mind me being very, very candid.
The Minnie 15K (9.3 miles) was not my first endurance event. I did the WDW 1/2 marathon in January and I am extremely glad that I did that one first, for many reasons.
First -- doing the Minnie would have been very intimidating if I hadn't "already done these miles". I knew I could complete 9.3 because I had already done 13.1. That mindset provided a confidence (or should I say "overconfidence) that is understandable, but now, looking back, not justified. Knowing I'd already done 13.1 made me very lazy in training for the Minnie and we almost didn't make the 15 minute pacing requirement because I was not well-trained (and because my hip was excruciatingly painful before mile 3).
I was seriously having second thoughts about doing the Full in 2007, but knew I'd take the training more seriously if I was training for a new challenge rather than one I knew I'd already conquered. Having seen DH struggle to complete the full marathon he did a couple of weeks ago has now given me a whole new respect for that distance. I am extremely intimidated by the Full. I know that getting to 13.1 is difficult enough, and EVERYONE I know who has done a full has told me that 13.1 is NOT the half-way point -- miles 20-26.2 constitute the 2nd half of a marathon. That is scary. That is what is going to get my butt in gear to train. That is what is going to make me condition my hamstring/hip to overcome the pain issues I have.

One final thing. I am glad I did the 1/2. I have a Donald medal. If I hadn't done the 1/2 first, I know I wouldn't go back and do it after having a Mickey medal, assuming I could even achieve a mickey without having first done the donald.

Although it is a long way off and the very thought of it is beyond terrifying to me, I have to admit my long-term goal is to achieve a Goofy. However, having heard from someone else that they didn't finish the full within the required time and therefore did not get the mickey or the goofy they were striving for gave me a good dose of reality. A full marathon is nothing to take lightly. You have to respect the distance. You have to put in the steps to train. I trained for 11 months to complete the 1/2. I did many 5Ks in between. I did a long training wog of 11 miles, IIRC. That is the reason I completed the 1/2. I KNOW I would not have completed the full in required time in January 2006. I am willing to work to complete it in the required pace in January 2007.
Having said all of that, all I can say now is that only you know what you can accomplish and how much training time you can put in. I believe a person can achieve anything they set their mind, body and soul to achieving. My personal philosophy is that I can do anything -- I just have to be realistic as to how soon I can do it.
Aren't you sorry you asked?

I don't know, Minnie -- I think 15 cheat free days is pretty darn impressive! :thumbsup2 When was the last time you went 3 weeks with that much discipline for more than 2 of the weeks? I know I can't do that without these challenges and the support of you guys. So, give yourself some credit, kiddo! :cheer2: And keep up the great work!

YES ice cream is NOT on core, and that is why I think I would like to switch to it...I find myself using my points for ice cream instead of better food. So I was thinking if I switch to core and stay within my foods on core, that I can use the 35 Flex Points that you get for and ice cream each night. 35 points broken into a week is 5 points a week...I figured I could have my ice cream daily as it is only 3 points, and then leaves me 2 other points in case I want another snack or something??? Does this make any sense??? I mean I know I could have the ice cream on flex, but then I am having other snacks and things (even though they are within my points) instead of having like a second helping of chicken I save those 3 points and have 2 helpings of ice cream...UGH...plus I think maybe switching up a little will boost the weight loss.

As far as the marathon goes...actually I am glad I asked. I trained every day for the Minnie marathon, and I also think that helped with my weight loss...I was so determined that I was going to cross that finish line...I can and will train every day for this marathon as well. I also plan on being at my goal weight before then which will make things alot easier. So with that being said, I KNOW I can complete the full, and then I will go for the Goofy in 2008...THanks Cam!!!!!! :goodvibes

Way cool, Michelle! Can't wait to see you at the start of the Full! I know you can do anything you set your mind to. And what an awesome way to motivate yourself for the next 7 months. Can you believe it is 7 months from today? :woohoo:

I definitely understand your logic for the ice cream/core thing. I can't wait to hear what you think of core. I eat sooo many processed foods that it would require a whole new way of thinking for me to do core. I wonder if there are WW frozen meals that are core, that I could continue to eat. I'll have to look into that. Please, please share your experiences. My new WW week starts today, so I am going to stick to flex this week and if I have time to educate myself to core by next Wednesday, I am going to seriously consider it. I've tried other things to shake up my weight loss, including Wendie plan, but only did that a week, as it was too structured and didn't always mesh with what my schedule was for a week.

Good luck! Can't wait to hear how everything goes!

Cam and disneyfanz04- you guys are amazing- minnie and half marathons, and planning on a full. You are people to look up to and help motivate me. If I can get out and walk 2-3 miles 3-4 times a week, I'm doing good in the exercise department. I can't imagine what an awesome feeling of accomplishment doing those marathons gives you. What is a Goofy? It sounds like it's even more than a marathon? That's great.
I'm on day 11, and it feels good to be 10% through. I had a crazy day at work and didn't get to eat lunch and started snacking, but kept track and I have 3 points left for supper, and will use some of my remaining flex points and should remain on track. I have never tried core because I eat too many processed foods, and love my snacks. I go in spurts of eating pretty healthy but I'm sure I would need more than 35 non- core foods a week.
Cam- your daughter is beautiful. Congratulations to you both. I bet 12 years flew by. My son is 4 and it seems like yesterday he was a baby. I love this age, and don't look forward to the teen years. I'll miss his hugs and kisses.
Hope everyone is doing great.

Kathy -- I am so glad you checked in. Congrats on getting past 10%!!! Yes, definitely enjoy the time with your DS4. My DS is turning 13. I'm not sure how that happened!? I have to say -- I definitely enjoy my kids even more as they get older. It is wonderful to share their interests with them, support them and watch them grow into terrific young people.

The "Goofy" is the challenge at Disney of doing the WDW 1/2 marathon on Saturday (to get the Donald medal) and the full marathon on Sunday (to get the Mickey medal) and if you do complete both races in the required pace time, you get a Goofy medal as well.

Congratulations on doing so much walking. I can't wait to get back into a training routine. I am doing the Disneyland Inaugural 1/2 marathon in September and it is definitely time to start training for that! You guys are keeping me on track foodwise, though, and I appreciate that.

All that being said, I ditched my business dinner and met my family for chinese buffet. I kept track of everything I ate and didn't go over my points, since I'd only eaten 6 points today and made good choices at the buffet.

Good evening everyone.

Kathy enjoy them while they are young. My older son is now 21 and my youngest son is 16. It goes by so fast.

Cam your daughter is beautiful. My older son is going to his girlfriend's senior prom this weekend. He also graduated from Community college a couple of weeks ago.

I am going into day 25(tomorrow). I just sat down and entered my calories and I am doing okay. I am stil working out at least 25 minutes a day and getting in my water each day.

Have to go now. I start exams tomorrow

I'm still on track on day 13. :) I've been good on the food, but not much exercise this week. Weather hasn't been great and I am so sick of rain. I keep tracking and staying within my points range. I've been thinking of me and my son at disney world in dec, and would love get a nice pic of us to use as a christmas card, but not at this weight.

I've also been reading the thread of pics of WDW food, and everything looks soooo good. It doesn't make me eat here cause anything I have here doesn't compare to the pics. I've got to keep losing so I can indulge in the wonderful food there.

Cam- the goofy sounds like an awesome challenge, and you will have such an amazing feeling of accomplishment when you finish it. I can't even imagine it. I've never been able to run. I used to bike a ton before I had my son. Now it's hard to find the time, so walking fits in my schedule now. Good luck to you in all your training.

The support from all you guys is great and really motivating. Hope you are all having a great week. :goodvibes

I'm finishing day 26. I used 7 FP's yesterday, but since I never use them and had them, I'm still OP. I'm on an emotional roller coaster right now(details in my journal)and haven't been up to posting much the last few days, but at least I haven't really been turning to food. Unfortunately, I've not been exercising, either, basically just vegging.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Cam your DD is GORGEOUS!!!

I just finished 27 days and I have to thank Cam for starting this. THis morning I have felt like singing. I did 65 minutes on the treadmill and I did 4 miles in that time. My time was 16.13 min/ mile which is one of my fastest time. Then I got on the scale and was down 5 more pounds.

Since I started this challenge I am down 8 pounds. Yes that is right.  I can't believe it. I lost 5 pounds this week and I went to three parties. I always kept in the back of mind to be mindful of what I was putting in my mouth. And to keep a water bottle close. Yes I even had some desserts but they were very very small. I was also glad that most of the people had some salads I really loaded up my plate with that. ONe more party on MOnday to go but I am already bringing a veggie platter so that I will have something to eat. NOw I just have to find a good recipe for a low fat dip.

Hope everyone else is having a great losing week

Hi, guys! Well, I am back to posting, after being tied up a few days with Special Olympics (my passion). I ate buffet last night but worked 15 hours Friday and 7 hours Saturday running around campus, bending & lifting and carrying stuff for the 3000+ meals that my committee managed. I figure I have at least 360 solid exercise minutes (but probably more), so I am counting yesterday cheat-free.

Dona -- I am so happy for you that you are seeing awesome progress on the scale!

Julie -- sorry you are having a rough time. I haven't visited journals in so long but will be back in the groove this week. Hang in there, sweetie.

Keep up the great work, everyone. You are keeping me accountable. I am hellbent and determined to meet my goals before the Disneyland 1/2 marathon,. which is 3 months and 1 week from today! Training starts today, so it should make it easier for me to remain cheat-free. Hugs, guys! :grouphug:

I'm just finishing day 15!!!! It's been great having this board to motivate me. I haven't followed WW this faithfully for this long in a very long time. The good weather always helps, and today was beautiful. After many days of rain, it was so refreshing to get out. My son asked me if all of our "day off days" could be on sunny days. I wish.
Hope you all are doing great.

Great job, mikamah! I'm with your DS -- it was gorgeous here today, too, and I had so much more energy!

Well, I did it. Went back to the gym for the first time in more than a week (maybe 2?). Did 50 minutes on the bike. It is supposed to be a rest day on my 1/2 marathon training plan, but I needed to do something to prove to myself I am back on track. I am also done today cheat-free. I have 6.5 points left for the day plus 3 APs I earned on the bike, but I think I am heading to a bath then bed.

Keep up the great work, everyone! :cheer2:

You guys will be so impressed -- you know how compulsive I am about eating at night, right? I don't know what it is -- I just always raid the kitchen before going up to bed. UGH!! Well, last night, after I posted here, I said good night to everyone, grabbed my book and some water and went upstairs to read. I really did finish the day with points left over and unused APs. Now, that is beyond cheat-free. I am really pleased. I am hoping to do it again today.

Congrats, Julie! 28 days! 4 whole weeks! Very impressive! :thumbsup2
