The hummingbird was back this morning. After taking some nectar, it went over to the peach tree and just sat there for nearly 5 minutes! I couldn't believe she'd (I'm assuming this is a she) stay there so long. A stupid blue jay came over to investigate her and she finally left but it was fun while it lasted.

My folks are lucky to have LOTS of hummingbirds at their home... it is such a pleasure to sit in their hammock and watch the little beauties.

Your picture is beautiful of your hummer.

Wow! What an awesome picture. I've tried unsuccessfully to attract them this year. I'll keep at it though. Apparently there are some year-round hummers here. I should do some research. I would really love to have them buzzing around.

That's a great picture, Roberta!! :)

I think the males are the brighter coloured hummers, right?

Thank you! :)

What a great pic. These little guy are awesome.

I have 2 hanging fuchsia and a circle of salvia in the back. They come daily to these plants. There's nothing like hearing a buzzing noise, looking up and seeing a Hummingbird going form flower to flower.

What a great picture! We have a hummingbird feeder right outside our dining room window. It has little perches on it so that they can perch and feed. It it so much fun to watch them land on the perch and just sit there and feed. We miss watching them when they head south.

I can't speak from personal experience, but I have friends who are bird enthusiasts who said the butterfly bush attracted the hummingbirds to their yard. They said when the 1st hummingbird appeared in their yard they ran out & got a hummingbird feeder [I think it takes a homemade *cooked* sugar water they make every few days] & now they have regular visitors. I think they said the feeder would attrack the birds even without the bush.

Hope this helps! :)

Cool photo Virgo10!
