I've only heard it as "a-corn".

It's weird with the either/niether thing. I go back & forth between the pronounciations, but I mostly pronounce either as"E-thur" & the opposite with niether being "Nye-thur"

And white is "why-t", not "wah-t", "wot" or "hu-why-t"
I say white as whiiiiiiT. My SO say wah-t. I say the i in either, not the e, I say the i in neither, not the e. My SO pronounces the e's in both words (as do most southerners).

It's puhcan, for pecan.;) And carmul for caramel.

Don't get me started on how he says tire and fire.

I've been up north so long I say A-corn. My southern relatives...some say a-cern.
Browneyes you must have some northern blood in you.:D

Wow! I've heard that Threads can get nasty, but is there really any reason to be insulting? I mean just because the poor girl can't pronounce "either" or "neither" (Long "E"s in both) :jester:

Browneyes, we put helments and jackets on our wise men displays in our Christmas nativity scenes because they came from afar!

(Y'all think about it for a second...you'll get it)

LOL! My SO calls me a Yankee because I grew up 32 miles NORTH of where he did.:p

LOL, I get it, Alan.:p My SO, another Allen, says FAR for fire and it drives me crazy.

When I was little and acting up, my grandfather used to tell me he was going to light afar in my BUTT!!

I always say "p'cons", saying "pee-can" is a surefire giveaway that you're from the north.

So is saying "Care-uh-mel", everyone knows it's "Car-mull" :)

Do you consider Ohio north? Because I have never heard it pronounced pee-can, only p'con and I also only hear car-mull, hardly ever care-uh-mel.

Girls Scout Leader, I wish you had been there to back me up yesterday! I didn't think about that one.:p

A-corn. A friend insists that the correct pronounciation for almond is ah-mund (no "L" sound).
