I'm thinking of getting an extra key when we get our new Ody, but I don't know how much is too much to pay. Is there a way of getting these later, not going through the dealer? I know that they have to be the "special" keys in order to start the ignition, so I can't just go to the hardware store and get them made. The dealer said $105--wasn't clear if that was just the key or the remote control, too.

Did you get an extra key? How much did you get charged for it?

I heard back from the dealer. As you all with Ody's know, the remote is part of the key. So $105 for the remote/key. Seems like a lot of $, but maybe that's how much they usually go for.

They do give you a second set with the van (along with a "valet" key).

As far as I know, the dealership is the only way to get another set. I would assume that the price includes the keyless entry as well, but I don't know that for certain.

They gave us two sets of keys w/ keychains. Are you talking about getting a third key? If you are I don't know the price.

We'll get two sets with the van, plus the valet, but was thinking about getting an "oops, I can't find my keys" key. :teeth: Of course I put my keys in the same place every time and never misplace them... :rotfl:

See, I'd just end up misplacing the "oops, I can't find my keys" key. :teeth: :teeth:

What I did with my old van was to get keys made at the hardware store that would unlock the van. That way if I locked my keys in the van (when at home) I could at least get that key and unlock the van. We don't have a valey key for our current van, so maybe I'll be ok with the 2 regular keys and one valet for the Ody.

I think so -- the valet key can be your spare, since it would open the door in case of an emergency (like locking a set of keys in the car).

And the valet can start the engine, too, just doesn't have the remote, right?

Yep ::yes:: I believe the only thing the valet key can't do is open the glove compartment.
