We are staying at Disney for 2 nights following a fantasy cruise over Thanksgiving week. Myself, DH, DD (11) and DS (8 at that time). It will be the Saturday and Sunday night after thanksgiving. Sunday night we will be going to MVMCP. We will probably go to DTD Saturday night for a little bit of shopping. Otherwise we plan to spend all Saturday and Sunday at the resort for some pool time and relaxation.

So the only 2 places we will be visiting will be DTD and MK. it would make sense to stay at one of the resorts with easy transportation to one of these. Of these i have narrowed it down to POR or CR. But then my husband mentions BC/YC which we feel in love with during a dinner last time we were at Disney. Would it make sense to stay at BC/YC when it isn't even close to the two places we are visiting? Given the time of year, would it be really busy at the pool which would be the main reason why we would be staying there? and then if the weather for those two days is terrible, we wouldn't even be able to use the pool.

Who has been at Disney right after thanksgiving? Are all the resorts crowded. i use "crowded" loosely as i know Disney is always crowded. But is it still crazy crowded by the weekend or is it starting to thin?

Thanksgiving feedback and resort feedback would be appreciated. I have read the resort thread over and over, so i am familiar with the resorts, just wondering about how much sense it would be to chose BC/YC if we aren't even going to HS or Epcot. Thanks!

We have stayed at both CR and BC and love them both. For relaxing around the pool, BC is where you want to be. But, it can be very chilly that time of year. We were there as late as Nov 19 one year and we did swim but it wasn't very warm. If I was you, I would pick CR. I think it is still VERY busy those days following Tgiving. I can't even express to you how convenient it is staying at CR and walking out your door on your way to the MK! Or how easy it is to walk back after you finish at MK. We found the buses at BC to be VERY frustrating as they share with other resorts. They may have dedicated buses during that very busy period, though.

The Gingerbread House will be up and viewable at the Grand Floridian during that time as well as other decorations at the GF and Poly....wouldn't you love to hop on the monorail and go see them? It is a must see in my opinion.

If you do decide you just want to hang at the pool, we like the CR pools and the beach there . It's not SAB but it's nice.

For the type of stay you have described (no Epcot or HS), I highly suggest CR. Staying at BC is so awesome when you plan on visiting those parks. Plus, there is Beaches & Cream and the Boarwalk area also.

Good luck with your decision!

I would go with the CR too. The BC is lovely and I have stayed there but if you are not going to EPCOT or DHS then I would save it for another stay. Being on the monorail loop you can visit all the other resorts. It may well be too cold to swim but you could take advantage of all the water sports/boats available. If you can swing tpv then go for that. It is magical to watch wishes from your room and not have to deal with all the pushing and shoving in MK.

thanks. i have been leaning towards CR, but just wanted other Disney enthusiasts' opinions. i think it would be nice to be able to walk to MK to beat the crowds and i love resort hoping to see the Christmas decorations. I was wondering about the pool at CR so i am glad to read some good comments about it.

I love the BC and would rarely not recommend it. But in your situation I'd go with the CR. We were there thanksgiving weekend in 2009 and it was freezing....it warmed up slightly on our last day but still not really pool weather. I would focus more on visiting different resorts to see the Christmas decorations.

We have stayed at BLT the last 2 Thanksgivings and prefer to walk to CR for pool and hot tub there. Both years I swam and used hot tub at night too. For some reason CR pool area is never crowded:confused3. The smaller round pool by lake had really warm water last Novemember too. Most people swam in the larger pool and didn't realize the small pool was considerably warmer.

I also like to take the boat over to WL. The holiday decorations there are pretty and there is always a fire going in the fireplace. The 2 nd floor fireplace is my ds favorite "secret spot". No one is ever there and has comfy seating too.

I have read a few posts that have said the pools at CR are usually less crowded. that would be nice! WL is the only deluxe we have not visited on one trip or another, so boating over there to see the decorations and sit by the fire if it is cool, would be nice. thanks for the suggestion.:) I think CR is winning!

Well, here's my take. Been to BC but not CR. The thing is, just think, while CR Is close to MK and far from DTD, BC is equidistant from both MK and DTD, which is convenient. It also has a Newport Cottage feel which is nice and cozy at that time of year. If you were going to go in a pool that time of year, BC is the spot. It also is close to the Boardwalk which you may like. I, honestly, think CR is ugly inside and out and doesn't give me that cozy feel if it's cold out. Just my opinion.

I would pick CR. If you are only doing MK and DTD it's kind of a no brainer. Getting to DTD is miserable except from the Port Orleans resorts no matter what, but at least you can walk to the MK from the CR.

I would absolutely recommend CR under the circumstances you described! For MVMCP, CR is the place. For MNSSHP last year, we stayed at BC for a couple nights and then transferred to CR for the party night. That was definitely the way to go - we enjoyed the party so much knowing that it would be easy to walk there and back. We booked CL, which I also highly recommend. And as you have already noted, no crowds at the pools. If we return for a party, we would definitely stay at CR again, at least for party night!

We have stayed at BC that time of year and it was fairly cool. I didn't feel that we got enough use out of the pool to make it worth the extra cost of staying there. I definitely want to stay at BC or YC again, but will only do it when I know it will be warm enough to really enjoy the pool.

Any of the MK resorts would be great. I've stayed at Poly, and WL. Going to try GF in August. The theming of CR doesn't do much for me, but in your case, location, location, location!

POR is a wonderful resort, it's our fav moderate. The theming is beautiful, rooms have been recently refurbed and the boat to DTD is really nice.

The busses to DTD are notoriously awful, so if you pick CR, I would consider a cab back.
